Top Ends
OK. So given the various modded 7's around here, who has actually pushed their's all the way. Even if we are only talking stock or basic mods, what speeds are we talking about????
So far I have not found the right place, or had enough nuts to dump it in the wrong place. I have done 125 in Katy TX, on not so smooth roads in farm territory.
I have read various things in mags, and a lot of the talk here is 1/4 mile times. What about the top end???

I did an indicated 165mph in my bone stock CYM two years ago on a 5 mile stretch of highway. Even though the speedo said 165mph, it was probably closer to 159-163mph. Still remarkable nonetheless.

BMW speedos read notoriously higher than they're supposed to....sometimes they read 10mph higher when above 85mph. They do this because of some law in europe that no carmaker can produce a speedo that reads under the actual speed your going. They make it read higher cuz of that law

On the road - 125. On the dyno we did a top end run and maxed out at 193 mph at 8 or 8500 I think. Seems like the tires might have started beading up lol.

~160 but the stock springs suggested i not push any farther... tehre were light gusts of winds not more than a few miles an hour and they were enought to make the car move halfway into the next lane...that and the lighness of teh steering wheel due to fron end lift... will an r1 or j-spec 99 spoiler help with that any? i need springs/struts too...

I ran 165 last Friday against a M3...we both started at 80, I gave him 3 car lengths before downshifting to 4th (didn't really give him 3 on purpose...should have started in 4th in the first place) and blew by him by 145. The FD had a sh*tload more to go. I last dynoed at 280 rwhp a few months ago.

170 twice, once with just dp and cb, once with most of the crap in my sig. The second time was on the way up to Kan's house and some C5 wanted to play--we went from a 70 punch.....I saw 170, but he gave up way before that . Car felt solid as a rock both times, and the second time the windows were down

I did 145 in my stock R1. I didn't have a boost guage at the time, but when I got one I discovered I was having boost problems. I am pretty sure the problems existed then as well. Once my car is on the road (rebuild) and broken in, I am sure it will be capable of much more. The only question is, why would I want to. You really only get a few things from going that fast:
1. A fat ticket, a trip to jail, and an impounded car(if they catch you)
2. A broken seven.
3. A totaled seven.
Even when I was doing 145, it was only cool for a few seconds.
