that RX-7 is legal to import, but it says that it can't be RHD.

This has been looked into a lot before. The basic problem is that just because a car is RHD does not justify it as being structuraly equal to a LHD car... therefor requiring crash tests. (= $$$$$$$$)

I was just on the phone with Sean Morris discussing petitioning for the RX-7 to be legal to import like he did with Skylines and tried to do with the Evo VII and he said one group did import RX-7s and Bentleys a while ago, in like 1997 or something, and the people importing them asked Bentley and Mazda if their cars were the same structurally LHD vs RHD and Bentley said yes, while Mazda said no, components under the hood were in different places. Just thought I'd share that with you guys.

There is NO 100% legal way to import a FD into the states. If you want to challenge this, bring it on.

Sorry to say though, Fumanchu is RIGHT. You need to chill out. The car is here and it does have tags on it but like its been said a couple times before, he did not do this in a completely legal way. He had "hook-ups."

If anybody wants to give it a shot (and preferably knows a high-up Mazda rep.) if you can get Mazda to write a letter stating that the RHD rx7's are substantially similar to LHD rx7's in structure then that will allow us to bypass the better half of importing them... basically leaving just the emissions as our problem.
