Hey,

Is this the same car as the one in this link? I think this guy was trying to sell it for a while. It looks awesome!! What did you end up paying for it?

that's an AWESOME fd! very impressive. props to you! hope to see you at club meets

it looks identical to the one in that link. i'm bummed that the us cars don't get that metal plate in the engine bay that says chassis type and vin and all that. funny thing is, the paint code on this one is "M8". cym's paint code is J9, or at least the us cars are

i've always wondered how cars like this, like skylines and sylvias etc., end up doing in the states. don't they have higher octane gas in japan? and ecu mapping is different to suit people's shorter driving range/cycle there, ie people driving shorter distances at a time. and that's partly the reason jdm rx-8 ecu makes 250hp, according to the people i talked to at racing beat. and it might also slightly affect the design of their cat and stuff. it'd be interesting to find out... i've only see one other jdm fd in the states, and that one was a track-only car

Wow. It must have been a long and arduous process just to get it over to the U.S.

Congrats on your car - you've got something truly unique.

Nice Car. I'm pretty sure CYM is a US spec color only, and not offered in any other part of the world. I believe his color is sunburst yellow, same color as the yellow miatas we had here during the time.

Very nice car.

Getting cars like registered in the US can be a bit tricky, similiar iwht my experience of registering grey market motorcycles like the NSR250, TZR250 in the US.

There is no true legal way to do it, but you can go through some loopholes to get it going. On a motorcycle, one way is to register it as a special build bike.. Similar to how custom choppers are titled.

For a car, I belive you can try to ttile it as a replica or a kit car.

So you gotta tell us if this car is legit or not? I mean, when the people you know are all gone and can no longer pass your car, will you be screwed or is it SERIOUSLY legal now?

if it's fully legal, how did you pull it off? difficult? how long did it take you to get it through customs (or did you go through customs at all)? how much cash did you have to drop to get it smog legal? details man, DETAILS!

Then you need to give us details man! PM me if you don't wanna talk about it in the thread. I'm guessing you got it fully legal in a non-fully legal way.

When my FD went to the body shop, the door cover was broken, so the entire box needs to be replaced since its a unit (US ones wont work) it was about $100 for the box hehe

So according to this: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/...LIG071404.html
and this: http://dms.dot.gov/search/document.c...&docketid=5863
that RX-7 is legal to import, but it says that it can't be RHD.
