Is this too much fo a mint FD?
FINALLY...20 POST!!!....
....Anyways I have passed on several FDs over the past 4 years (twice while in Okinawa), but I have ALWAYS admired the respect this car commands while driving down the street. It says alot about a person who is willing to go against the odds and try and tame the 2-rotor beast....so I decided to go for it.
I came across a absolutely BEAUTIFUL 1994 white FD with....30,XXX miles!!! I only have a few issues with it.
1. They want $26,800
2. This dealership has sold ALOT of low milage FDs over the past 2 years (they have 2 now)...didnt even know that many even existed
3. No pictures of the engine
Is it too good to be true? Or a deal I need to attack asap?

I'd say it is pretty 'true' and not too good for it.
there are a good amount of super low mile FDs around for sale in that price range.
SO if you're willing to dish out the cash and really like these cars, it would be worth while.
but i wouldn't say you'd be getting an awesome deal...that is how much they go for.
remember that these cars, even with low miles, will take residence in your wallet. be prepared for that

Thanks man. Im not sure I could pull the trigger on that deal though. Thats quite a lot for a car that age, even if it is the iconic FD.
Basically what I was getting at but failed to mention is it better to fork over the big bucks for a low milage, relatively unmolested FD, or just try and search for the low price and go from there?

Ah gotcha
It just depends what you're looking for. I'd wait till you find something you feel very comfortable buying. If i had 30k to spend on a singlecar to keep for the rest of my life, I would for sure go for a super low miles ~$25k FD. but that is me.
However, there are a LOT of options in the below 20k range that are in considerably good condition. You can spend less bucks and have them running better than the lower mile stockies. Over a couple months of looking I only found 4 potential FDs that met my standards, before buying an original owner '95 two weeks ago--68k mi $15.5 CA car. AST and catback only. Paint is not as good as some of the garage queens out there.
Drive a lot, feel them out, and be patient.

^^ This.
From what I've seen the best deals are to be had on this forum. For some reason cars on here go for much less than on the outside. Even from private parties. With that said Fritz is a well known forum member and can be trusted. So I would definitely go look at anything he has if I were you.

For that price, make sure you get exactly what you want with the mods you want. Don't settle on tan interior if you want black, don't settle on one with a rear wiper if you don't want it, don't settle for Bose if you don't want it....etc

Hmm ok, not sure what you are implying there... If you think he's lying then I don't know what to tell you, I mean the car was there and is in mint condition, it's not like we were in a contest on who paid the least for their low mileage FD so I don't know why he would lie about it

^Exact reason I sold The Mighty Stealth Bomber (as she was known around these parts). Original mint unmodified unmolested '93 BB R1 w/10,850 miles..... not even a stereo or alarm installed. Never an interior panel off before I bought her from the original owner.
I knew I was going to go down the road of my old much-missed VR FD, so why do that to such a car? I kept my BB '95 with 35k original miles that had been modified and personalized by the previous owner. Figured that was a decent consolation prize

a good quality car will sell itself its just a question of waiting for that one single buyer who can appreciate it for what it is

IMHO when a car passes into private hands, its value perceived by the owner changes (up or down) depending on the owner, not the car. My wife would never sell our '94 FD for less than $20K, but if I ask "OK, if you get a $20K offer, would you sell it?" the answer is always "No, it isn't for sale."

Hahaha that's funny because I said the same thing about Okinawa. Beautiful island, ridiculous car scene, the Japanese people changed my outlook on life by how humble and healthy they are........but Kadena flight line.......the devils garage. Never ever ever again.
