TNS Relay

TNS Relay
well Im looking at my friends jdm 3rd gen and it wont crank, the Power FC wont power up and no lights come on..the relays look fine, the grounds were OK when I looked at them last and he got a new starter b/c that was the original problem(solenoid went out). When he tried to crank it over the first time it wouldnt even click. Then certain lights on the dash wouldnt come on. Now when I turn the igntion on it makes the beeping noise and sometimes it changes pitch but now no lights anywhere. The battery is good and when i first connected it today the FC commander came on until i tried to crank it then it all cut off. When the battery is connected there is a clicking noise that comes from the TNS Relay. What is it? I see it has coil and com labeled prongs on the relay. Any Ideas? Help would be appretiated b/c he is in california for marine corps stuff and I said I would try to work on his car. Thanks guys.

well the battery was low so i used jumper cables to connected to the battery then tried it then..I got some of the lights(turning, headlights, tails,a/c etc.) to come on but still no FC commander and when I try to crank it the 4w abs light comes on...and still not even a click from the starter. Could the solenoid have gone out agian or something?..plus I think the battery is bad now b/c now when i test it on a mutimeter it wont go above 11.10v after about 30mins of charging. When we first started I thought it might have been his ignition switch b/c only some of the lights would come on. He did clean the connectors to it after reading some posts on here on how that helped some people but still doesnt get all the lights.

would it be different from me basically charging it from a different vehicle...i pulled up a corolla next to it and hooked up the jumper cables to it and thats how i got the lights to come on but no click at all. there is another starter here that was he deemed as bad before he got another and i hooked it up to a battery and the solenoid kicked the gear in and out..is it good or does it have to do with a certain amount of force to be good or would moving the gear at all be ok?

Buy a new battery, and physically unhook the grounds and reconnect them making sure the surface is clean and tight. It could also be a bad or poor positive cable. A good battery should read over 13 volts.
