it makes no sense to buy a rebuild compared to having one rebuilt, especially if you intend to tear it down and modify it.

I want to say I bought S4 8.5 turbo rotors for $650 each, a pair front & rear REW irons for under $1000 total for both, etc., that’s shipping included. I saw a deal on REW front rotor housings for under $700 each shipped about 2 months ago. Good pricing is out there if look hard enough or happen to be in the right place at the right time.

the worst thing of all is that the Mazda USA PDCs are the absolute bottom of the barrel shipping packers in the world. Engine parts in a box 5x or larger than the factory box with hardly any packing in it, and it bouncing and banging around all the way. The shipment of a single iron plate ordered through Motorsports was beyond infuriating; hardly any packing, falling out of the shipping box, etc.

exactly as it shipped … exactly the opposite of what I pay way less for out of Japan

edit: I just checked several sources, and can order all three REW iron plates and two REW front rotor housings for ~$2850 shipped from Japan. Maybe less even with some more effort.
.
can you suggest a reputable source for these parts?

I've seen some on Ebay selling both rotor housings as a set, but do you have other reliable sellers you reccomend to buy from Japan. I'm in the market for a set

Prices certainly have gone up due to production line changeups however as mentioned previously the completely bonkers pricing structure on some items is solely due to Mazda USA markup strategies (or lack thereof). I'm not even particularly mad at 10.5k for an assembled engine (though I'd say 9.5 would probably be more in line) - compared to other niche sports cars it's still pretty reasonable; the issue to me is more the singular item markups.

while re-checking the calibration table for my pressure sensors on the AEM site i noticed they are now priced at a round $200! gulp. these are a nicely done clone of the Honeywell industrial item. while a quick check on the net shows the real pricing around $170 this is still around $50 more than a year or so ago.

yes, i know, not real news however, Honeywell, just released a new version of their blue chip pressure sensor. same first class quality, same stainless steel body, same accuracy and available in different pressure ranges.

Ballenger Motorsports, one of my favorite vendors, has them in stock for... $81. pigtail is $13.

for those w ECUs w a Math Channel, simply direct your MAP input to read the sensor and subtract barometric pressure.

given any modded RX7 needs a number of pressure sensors the cost adds up quickly in the $200 range.

fuel pressure
boost pressure
oil pressure
AI system pressure
exhaust back pressure

Further to that, I'd suggest people consider refractive optical level sensors rather than float switches for AI applications.
