Unless they themselves strip each engine/tranny out of the working car how would they know if it was any good?
Post more pics please...
My last engine from a "Reputable" tuner over here had no injector diffusers either. I dont imagine it makes a huge difference at WOT, but I can assume that must have been why my idle and low revs were ****

Ok Guys, My ol fella and dave hg stripped down the engine last week. The rear rotor is shot and so is the housing, Pick up on the front and rear bearings and pick up on front rotor bearing. The plates are excellent as is the front rotor housing, So not to bad really. My ol fella and dave will be putting it back together over the next week or two and will post up pix of reassembly. Will post up pix of the rear housing and rotor asap.Looks like the top of the three peice tip fell out and fuuuuuucked the rotor and housing, My ol fella reckons this was during assembly as the plates are like new.pix to follow.Rix
My ol fella is my wonderful dad, Who maintains and repairs my fd for me. I call him ol fella short for old fella just to wind him up as he is only 37.lol
this thread is full of fail and retardation.
1)the engine is obviously older and has been installed for some time(either in your car or in another).
2) sand on the engine? do you think they threw dirt on it before they sold it to you?
3)who did the install and what does it have to do with the engine manufacturer?
4)you got a questionable rebuilt motor from a "used" engine seller, you don't know who installed it, you didn't get compression readings? you didn't have a shop do one? you didn't inspect for damaged seals before installing it? you didn't give much of **** at all for information....
i seriously don't know what to think except that you only have yourself to blame and if i was tigerjapanese i'd tell you to go get hosed too if you gave such little info in response before a threat on a public forum.
the only thing i really can guess is that you bought the motor used, sat on it for a year without inspecting it, wanted a pristine looking pressure washed motor(i don't recommend pressure washing by the way...) and found it had a chipped seal. yes i would consider that bad business if they claimed that it had good compression.
moral of the story: don't be so ******* vague!

4)what kind of builder installs chipped/broken apex seals? none. because you or the installer popped the motor by doing things incorrectly.

i fly out on weekends to england or wherever to build motors for them, i throw sand on them and only use apex seals that are cracked.
i also be sure to include a packing list which describes how to post on a forum, giving absolutely no details about said transaction.

Karack , Just for you i will start afresh. The company name used is totally made up and is being used as an example. My engine was blown and i searched the web for a quality replacement, I found a company called karackjapanese, They advertised low km, compression tested engines with gear box for lets say $1600. Looked at the pictures and read the description, Which stated that it had 25000 to 50000km and had been compression tested and fully inspected, Was complete with all wiring, pipes, etc. They would accept paypal, creditcard etc etc. So i phoned up and spoke to karack the master engine seller and he assured me that it was a low km good compession complete engine just like the picture, What was in the picture you got . So I got my Dad to buy it with his credit card so as to ensure the purchase was insured. So karackjapanese shipped the engine and tranny to the uk to my installers. On the day of delivery, My installers removed the turbos to carry out pre installation checks on the rotors, This was when it was noticed that the rear rotor had a chipped tip and one had the top of the three peice tip missing. Photos were taken and sent by email of the damage, Karackjapanese were very slow in responding to both phone and their online claim form, ANd were not very helpful . Any way creditcard company issued a full refund and karackjapanese never bothered to collect their goods, So after the permitted time, and more, the bad engine became mine. So after sitting in the workshop for a long time ,I decided to start stripping it down to the block and my dad and dave hg would strip the core to see what parts were good and to rebuild it. This post is to show outher members my good compression tested engine that was really a blown engine, And just to post up pix of the damage. Anyone who knowingly sells a fd owner a dud engine or agrees with selling crap parts to make a couple of bucks is an *******.
The company is (and has been) in the title of the thread. http://www.tigerjapanese.com/

This is why it is always best to pay a reputable builder to tear down a motor to be inspected and professionally rebuilt.
JDM motors always have been and always will be a gamble.
