throttle body replacement.

Ok so today I tried to tighten the bolts on the throttle body. The ones that connect the intake elbow to the throttle body. And my shitty luck one of the top bolts sheared clean off.My question is this.
Can the bolt be tapped out? Or am I fucked and I have to replace the whole throttle body? Also will the be any noticeable air leaks.I mean theres still 3 good bolts holding the thing in place so if i dont absolutely need to replace it im not going to.Just beacause money isnt as prevalent as it used to be.Thanx everyone for the help.

Yeah. I think you can tap it. Just take the TB to a good shop, unless you know what you are doing. Not too sure about the leaking, but the chance of leaking does exsist with only 3 bolts...

I just did the same thing a while ago... this thread tells you to get the bolt out with a vice grip (if you can grip any of it) and then gives the autozone part number of replacement studs. I replaced all of mine, they were all looking weak.

hehe... that's nothing, at least it's a quality part. try $1700 for that POS intercoller, or $1500 for the airpump! mazda parts for the FD are ALL very expensive.

Remember, those little 10mm nuts are to be torqued to a max of about 96 inch pounds. That is 8ft lbs.

85" lbs is close to medium and is safer.

Has anyone ever heard of torques wrenches? I use three when working on 7's.

1/2" drive, up to 200ft lbs,
3/8" drive, up to 120ft lbs
3/8" drive, up to 20ft lbs/240inch pounds.

Never broken a fastener when tightening them yet on over 15 years of working on cars.

Have broken them taken them off because they were already stripped or rusted.
