Question Throttle body dissasembly

Any of you guys that have polished or taken apart your TB, is it an easy task to set up/ put back together?
I would like to paint mine but all the side mechanism are in the way. i have a FSM on order, will that give me any help on it or does it not say anything about it?

Should i just try to tape that crap off, or can i take it all apart and put it back together relativly easy?

It's pretty tricky to remove all the components on a throttle body and put it back together properly. There's actually a ton of little parts and tensioned springs on the linkage - any bit of it not assembled right and you'll have some problems.

I'd just mask things off and go from there.

They are easy ,I take them apart and my son polishes them .I reassemble them useing counter sink allen screws to hold the throttle plates in place . The allens are flat and let the air flow better than the stock screws .

I'll put it this way - if you've done it a few times, it's not hard. I learned by basically destroying an FC throttle body back in the day - once I got it figured out, it was gravy.

If you've never done it before, I wouldn't recommend learning on your only throttle body. Also, you do need an impact screwdriver for the various screws on the TB - if you try a regular screwdriver you'll strip them out easily.

I ended up drilling my screws out for the butterfly plates. Anyone have any better ideas, because that was not the best way of doing it.

I sand or grind the back side of the small screws before removing them . Then counter sink the shaft holes . After tightening the new screws I stake them so they will not come out .
