For those of you who have had FPD falure:

Mine just started leaking, but it did so in a weird way, or so it seems. It was my understanding that it gradually happens, but for me it just starting billowing out at one time. I parked the car one night, went out to the garage in the morning, and I almost suffocated from the fuel smell. It was so strong. I thought it was weird that it would happen this fast so I originally thought a fuel line split or something. It turned out the FPD was leaking from the top. (By the way, I already replaced it so don't worry)

Mine was the same way. The car ran for a while and then I did emissions removal and nonsequential. When I started it back up, drove it around, it wasnt leaking. Then the next day, it was spraying out the top. Mine had 111k.

I think most of the time they go all at once, thus the engine fire before the owner even notices the smell or leakage.

Makes sense in a way. Since it seems to be rubber seals failing in the FPD, a full cooldown cycle probably finishes it off.

Yea, at 68k I didnt want to chance it even though mine still looked to be in good shape -- engine fires scare me, lol I'm also cleaning any oil from the intake track and turbos as the stock Y-pipe was drooling a bit. :/

yea i just replaced mine last month. it was leaking from the top as well. the original one was black and the new one i got was green. I dont know if they changed them at all or whatever. But for anyone reading this i would always keep an eye out and make sure its not leaking. Better to be safe than have a engine fire.....
