For those wanting the "Ebay" Brembo cross drilled slotted rotors to LAST.....have them Cryo treated !! If you don't know what it is do a little research. The rotors sold are original Brembo OEM replacements that are cross drilled and slotted. Now, many have been reluctant to purchase these even though the price is low feering that they will crack quickly. With the Cryo treatement they have been proven to last. Anyhow, I have spoken to both the Brembo man and Cryo man and here is the dealio. Cryo treated rotors are only $25 a rotor. The Ebay Brembo man usually sells them for $140 for the front set of cross drilled and slotted rotors. He said that if I can get some people together the price will easily go down to at LEAST...at least $140 shipped to your door. With a good number of people it should be lower. I may be able to work with the "Cryo Man" as well on that price if you all are interested. Email me at talvendi@cs.com and depending on the number of people I can just set of the discount rate for all you Rotorheads.

True, Cryo treating the rotors may help it last, however, I must say that just because you cryo treat the rotors, doesn't mean that you're eliminating the possibility of cracking, among other more significant things. When C-WestRX-7 made the post, he wanted to make the rx-7 community aware of the differences between true rotors that are engineered for cross drilling and slotting AND rotors that are simply cross drilled and slotted. There is a difference. Obviously the rotors that are engineered for cross drilling/slotting will be far superior compared to the other.
Cryo treating the normal rotor will only make metal stronger to a certain standpoint. Having a rotor that was designed w/ cross drilling/slotting in mind, cryo treated, and it will be far stronger.

in that case, wouldn't it be better to just get plain brembo rotors and cryo treat them? they will be cheaper and you don't have to worry about cracking and stuff...

Constant threat
cryo treating....
When used properly, cryo-treating works good. At my work, we have experimented with cryo-treated end mills and drill bits, and have found most of the claimed improvements to be true.
Same can be said for other automotive applications, a co-worker is running a supercharged big block that he had the major reciprocating masses and the block cryo-treated, this motor is pumping out 700 hp and has lasted (so far) an entire season of drag racing.
However........
On the rotors, I just don't know.....they go thru such intense heat cycling.....and anytime steel is heated, it goes thru some changes.
Let's just say that surely cryo-treating the rotors won't hurt them, and in fact it could very possibly eliminate the initial causes of cracking....

Cyro
I know from reading Max Cooper's web site that he has seen much longer life out of solid face Brembo replacement rotors when cryo treated. He says they last more track sessions vs. the non-treated rotors.
See what kind of deal we can get Ted, I might be interested.

Alright...this is what I have so far. Instead of $25 per rotor for the Cry treatment it will be $15 per rotor. The price on the Brembo rotors are $140 shipped (front). Still waiting to hear back from the Brembo man to get a better price for us. Also waiting on a price for the rears. Need more people in this for better pricing.

OK, there is another option. The Ebay guy offers Brembo and another non named brand that is also cross drilled and slotted. The Non name brand will cost $125 shipped to your door (Brembo $140) or you can have them shipped directly to have them cryo treated at (treatment $15)each rotor. PM me if interested.
