I dont know if i will miss it. honestly, i have an audi s4 that i use for daily/road trips. i dont intend to take this car far cause frankly i dont trust it (runs good just-well, you know). I am installing a jacobs ignition box, and the only place i can find to place it is where the cruise controll motor is. You guys think its worth it to take off just so I have a mounting place? I cant decide.

Keep the cruise control. Find another location for the Jacobs unit.

I second keeping it! Previous owner took it off my car. I bought another module off a forum member and it was great to have on the occational highway trip. One of the best "mods" i have ever done (reinstalling what he had removed). Fit and finish is factory quality....and it WORKS!

Agree... that damn thing was a whole 2.5 lbs!!! Evil!!!

I effectively got rid of mine when I installed a decent steering wheel, more fitting to a sports car than to a Bus. If you car is a toy, as mine is, I wouldn't bother with cruise. It is nice to have any little space open up in the FD engine compartment.

On the other hand if its your traveling car, I'd think about keeping it. (still get rid of that Bus sized steering wheel).

I recently realized the steering wheel is bus sized as well. Sad.

I removed mine. You can take out the mechanism under the hood without ruining it, leaving open the option of reinstalling it. Thats what I did but its been 1yr+ and haven't missed it. Why let a little gadget have the fun of controlling the throttle? Your foot would be happier in charge.

I actually added it to mine (a "real" R1). I use it on straight stretches of highway. That said, go ahead and take off. Your only removing the actuator. It's all 'plug and play' and if you change your mind it's just three 10mm bolts and re-hooking the cable.

I installed my jacobs on my R1 in that corner, where the cruise usually goes. Perfect spot for it.

I've driven between NJ and tx/ok about 5 times and have never missed the c/c. junk it

In a car where they drilled the pedals to save weight, cruise control is an odd option.

If I ever need a spot to mount an ignition amp I'm ditching the cruise control. I never use it anyway, even on long trips.

BTW Rich, I was in Morristown for a while this weekend with my FD. I kept an eye out for the red monster, but no luck.

Why I like cruise control -- I have to drive 4+ hours to the track event and it's just too hard to keep the damn thing from creeping over 100 mph all the time...

lol. not quite. hey btw, this is your freinds old car from st augustine. its getting ready to be a bad ***. i finally fixed most of the grimlins. after this ignition and swaping out to my ported-nonwardped manifold im turning up the wick finally. Im hoping for around 370 whp at 15lbs.

I say ditch the damn thing. I didn't have it on my FD.. I've had it in all my other cars... never use it. Personally I think its unsafe, but w/e... I've also heard people say their foot gets tired on long car trips. Which I've never had that issue..

So add one to getting that thing outa there. =)

I also find the cruise control a good way to prevent myself from speeding. If I am in control of the gas pedal I always want to push the speed up into the triple digits. Especially on the long boring desert roads between here and LA...Las Vegas...and Tucson...

I would keep it. Cruise control always saves me gas. Mainly because it rarely goes into boost using cruise control It does make long trips much nicer.
