Thinking of selling '94R2 and going Viper.
A Viper won the Sport Compact Ultimate Sports Car whateverthing they did. My friend's dad recently bought a Viper and it's way cooler than I thought it was. They belch out tons of power (Get a Corsa Performance exhaust! listen to it at www.corsaperf.com )
THe Viper isn't really a bad car. I've noticed that some people love it and others don't. For you, it does seem like the next logical step up.

you will have one fast car that will never be allowed on the streets of CA. we cant smog a 2 rotor with mods, i dont think a three rotor will fly very well
Wow... 5 pages and not one mention of God, American Politics or Abortion!!
I too am amazed by the number of people who think the Viper can't handle. It was built from the beginning to be a brutally accelerating track car. There was MUCH though put into the suspension of the Viper to make it a track warrior.
I'd still love to have one if my wallet could afford it.
Here's another thought. Have you considered a kit car? My neighbor is building a factory five Cobra and it's just wicked.
If a Cobra isn't your thing... how about this?
I can GUARANTEE you will NOT see another Daytona on the road. It's definetly designed as a track car. Forget all the rickety kit car images that flash into your mind. These cars are extremely robust. I'm amazed at the frame/chassis on my neighbors car.
You can definetly build one bad *** Daytona replica for less than the Viper. Seriously... give factory five some thought. They are top notch kits and that Daytona is just frickin awesome! The kit starts at $15k... my neighbor figues he'll have $25k into it when it's all said and done - with a stroker 351 and coil-overs.

I would think that you would be happy that this car is captivating the minds of a younger generation. And as for some of the other stereotypes, yeah I have two tattoos and three peircings but does that make me a ricer? I don't think so.

anyway to keep it short and to the point. i dont think that *ALL* young guys are ricers, but *most* are/do start off that way. and that is fine. if they have a true love for the cars, they will eventualy straighten up their act and realize they are spending money on fiberglass that is doing nothing for them.
the good part is... this shows that more and more people (younger people and the newer generation that will eventualy making the money to afford a weekend warior) are getting involved and starting a *love* for the rotary engine. maybe this will help in bringing back more rotary powered vehicles like in the 70's. wouldnt it be great to have a new rotary powered pick-up and the return of the rotary in a sedan?! the rx8 is a great step for mazda. i hope it takes. i personaly dont like the styling that much, but i would buy one just to support their descission to bring it back
you know what i am saying? in a way, they hurt us, but on the other hand... it can only help the industry all around.
well that is my point about the smog deal. its easy to put stuff back together on a stock two rotor then it would be to swap everything out from a three rotor and pray it works. i would love to have a three rotor in mine, dont get me wrong there. also i had friends who would SMOG the cars no problem. now that this stupid dyno thing rolled in everyone is afraid to try. money isnt the issue cause we have flashed nice benjamins in front of them. they just dont want to get in trouble.

I actually have looked at those before. I thought the new kit was not yet in production? I have the Car and Driver with the Factory Five coupe going at it with some other cars. I looked at the web sight a while back and it just said, "Comming soon"
I think I have found my next car. I'm going to call these guys and talk about one of these. Anyone want to help put a three rotor into one of these.

My other neighbor has a great relationship with FFR... he took all the photos and videos that you see. He's a videographer by trade and a Cobra lover. He did all the promotional stuff for FFR.
My other neighbor (building his Cobra now) got the latest Chassis (the MKII - I think).. it's got many improvements over the MKI.
If you have any other questions I can put you in touch with them.
That's a sweet car Donovan....
I can't wait to line up the old Supra against the stroked 351 Cobra.

Yo,
Donovan, regardless of what you do...please don't put a bodykit on your FD!!
I think your cars looks great without one, I don't understand why people put bodykits on FD's. It just ruins them, IMO. If you are trying to stay "different" with all the new F & F ricer punks getting FD's, /don't/ put a body kit on.
I think TwinTurboTeddy and your car are great examples of what an FD should look like: clean, mostly stock, with some big meats on it. Leave the body kits and huge wings for the noobs.
Let me know if you want to go canyon running again, I've got a whole new suspension set up...I should be able to keep up a little better than last time. *wink*
That, and I'll stick the A008R's on!! *grin* Don't mess with my Ronal 15's and old skool Yokes.
About the question at hand, it really depends on how much your FD is giving you trouble. I remember you have a Power FC and all the goodies, so it should be pretty dialed in. If that's the case and all the reliability issues have been resolved, stick with the FD. The Viper is nice, but the FD will always be the most drop dead sexy car ever made. Bar none.

Cool thanks! I'm afraid of the GTUs now!! I do want to go canyon running. Mabey we can get a few of the other Sac guys to go to. I've got a new suspension too and I run Yokohama Advan 032Rs now too so this time If that CHP gets behind me.. I'm outa there
HA.
I don't think there will ever be a body kit on my car. If a new nose came out that I liked, and there are none to date, I may go with it but most likely not.
Jim, I'd like more inf on the FFR cars. I'm going to call them in the next few days but if I could throw a few names around it always helps

Yeah I understand, about the young ricers. But I just don't like the stereotype, but that may give me an advantage. That when people come up and look at my car and see it ain't rice than that's just more kudooz points to me. Sorry about the post I just got a little ticked. And yeah I would love to see the trucks and sedans based on the rotary come back. I just want to see a rotary based top drag fuel car. That'll be the day that rotaries take over the world.

Todd Hack is my other neighbor (Vice Pres. of Carquest)... he recently bought the MKII kit and is building it. You can drop those names... not sure if they know who Todd is... but Jim Colman should definelty ring a bell.
www.ffcobra.com is the FFR forum... Jim and Todd both post there. Lots of great info.
