Then it is still hard to say.

Here's why. If the bad line is not attached to the compressor, then that is not too much labor. If the bad line is attached to the compressor, then the belts, pulley and PS unit need to be removed to get to the compressor to fix the line.

You won't know until it is leak tested and the leak location determined exactly.

Anyways, you only have 2 more months of nasty weather, then you won't need the AC.

Going from an STi to an RX-7 for a daily driver? The STi should be a much better DD, tons more torque down low and a more spacious car. I used to own an Impreza. Have you driven a 3rd Gen? To me, that's the only way to tell if you're going to like it or not: the test drive.

Personally I would be fearful of buying any car that replaced a motor so recently. It would behoove you to determine what caused that motor to need replacing, and make absolutely sure that it has been fixed.

Why are they selling?

I bought a modified Impreza a few years ago, I ended up ondoing a lot of the mods, I was very happy to find my current RX-7 in bone stock condition.

i hope you dont expect the FD to be your new daily driver. especially one that is modded like that. granted, it's not the most unreliable car ever, but it's just not a good idea, plain and simple. i can promise you right now that you will have many days where you will be getting rides from friends, having your car towed (if you dont have a place to work on it, or the tools to), ect... the rx7 although a great sports car, is not a great car to own if it's your only car. if you wanted to spend 15k on a nice quick daily driver, i would have bought a 97-98 240SX that someone has already swapped an SR20DET into. there are PLENTY of those for sale right now, and they'll IMO be much more reliable and cost you MUCH less down the road.

not trying to scare you away, but if youre spending the rest of your money on a house, and you dont have any saved up for the car, you're going to be in trouble. you'll be trying to make mortage payments and save enough to get your car running again. and that's not a good combination

He said the other engine ran to rich and died (Was stock motor)
He has a kid (7th month old) and needs a bigger car was his excuse.
I have rode and test driven one
As for daily driver he said it made for it with non seq and the mods he has done.

Actually to be polically correct, he uses this forum and everyone asked why he was selling his car and gave him props on the car.

While running extremely rich can be just as bad or worse than runninng lean, I have never heard of anyone on this forum losing an engine from it.

Either he doesn't know why his last motor went, doesn't want to tell you the real reason, or he was trying to run 1600cc 4x with the stock ECU.

Ok I was wrong about the rich thing, maybe thinking of another 7 I saw.

He Said "
we do now know. A bad Oil metering line to the block. EGTs were always a bit higher than my friends.. but never figured out why till we pulled the engine"

He also said

you will learn. once you learn what makes any engine go bad, you will learn why peoples rotarys blow. I dont have time to get into it. But your ok

Most all blow them with bad tuning as I mentioned. You have alot to learn Please make friends with the local rotary shop

non turbo rotarys go 300k plus miles. even turbo ones go 100k plus with stock boost levels. you must learn first why they blow and see if that pertains to your engine. Ive done this.
people see others with mods and think they can do the same.
you have to spend the time and money to have a fast reliable 7. You get what you pay for
