How much better does a Racing Beat flow than stock?

You tell me!

I love this exhaust. I've got a downpipe, stock cat, and that, and I'm scared to add my midpipe as I love how it sounds how it is.
If you dont know what exhaust to get, get this one.
But get a boost controller if you dont have one, as I went from 11 psi spikes to 16
ProfecB spec 2 is the weapon of choice for me.

The intercooler is being made right now (asp groupbuy) and as soon as that gets delivered its getting the midpipe and a microtec and tuned to 15 psi.

I just switched from the stock setup to a RB cat back with a Gotham Racing Hi-flow cat & SS downpipe. Love it!

ijneb: Let me get this straight, you have a downpipe, stock cat, and exhaust only, and you're spiking to 16 PSI???

I'm running the same, and see no higher than 10.5 PSI.

16psi spikes? i am curious as well with only a downpipe, stock cat, and a RB cat-back. I have the same setup and am getting about 10.5 psi as well. ????

i'm completely stock and sometimes i get 11psi but i also dont get secondary boost b/c of a leak right now.... but my hose kit is in so that will be fixed whenever i have free time. I just got a job working 10 1/2 hours a day!!!!! so now I have like 4 hours of free time a day...... and at that rate i will get my hoses installed in 2.3 years

I have a DP resonated MP and it's not much louder to be honest. Only when you go WOT you hear a difference...I am actually going to throw on a mid pipe for me tune this weekend.

Yes, I've also got an intake, but I dont think thats going to make a 5 psi difference.
I was thinking the same thing when i took it for a spin, I couldnt even give it gas because it spiked so bad and just hung there.
How old are your turbos? Mine were replaced around 20k ago, maybe that makes a little difference?

Dude...That's ALOT of spike. When I freshly installed my amazing condition 88k mile turbos from my old auto on the new car, I was getting 12 psi spikes with a downpipe, midpipe and cat. Midpipe is what will cause the most spike, so uh whats goin on with you?

Also my motor has a light streetport and I have a K&N dropin with the rbinlet.

Unless your old CB was nearly completely clogged, there is no way that you went up 5psi by just installing the RB. Good choice BTW

I also have a RB dual tip exhaust and I have been very happy with it. However, I'm still using the stock cat to keep the noise level down and the 3" RB flange slightly overlaps the 2.5" cat flange causing a small exhaust leak. Where my pettit downpipe meets the stock cat has the same problem. Does anyone know of a company who sells a 3" to 2.5" exhaust flange adapter plate?

You should not have an exhaust leak due to the size difference. Sounds like you need new gaskets, and a proper installation.

The main cat has a weld on the inside of the pipe where it attaches to the flange. This weld reduces the 2 1/2" opening to just over 2". I welded my flanges to the pipe on the outside, and ground down the inside weld to make a true 2 1/2" opening. I did this on both ends of the cat pipes. The butt dyno noticed a small increase in power. I would recommend this mod to everyone that still has the main cat.

The old exhaust must have been completely clogged because I saw 16 psi spikes everytime i opened it up from any speed. I cant wait to get that intercooler, midpipe in and the microtech put on and tuned.

Ahh, so you welded new larger flanges on the stock cat. Not a bad idea. Sorry for the thread hijack ijneb.

No, I welded the original flanges to the pipe on the outside, then I ground down the inside weld to make it smooth. I didn't grind all the way thru the inside weld. The flange was never removed. Sorry if I didn't explain it clearly the first time.

I have the PFS catback, I have no complaints about it but I would rather have the RB because of the look

Your intake most likely is what is causing the high boost spiking. Three of us w/ DP and exhaust only chimed in on this thread and are seeing 10.5 - 11 PSI. You need to install a boost controller or EMS, otherwise your engine won't last.

I have intake, downpipe, stock cat, and RB dual tip and I only see 10-11 psi too. My downpipe is a piece of junk with a large restrictive bend, but that shouldnt make much of a difference between the four of our setups and his. I dont think it is his intake. He must have something else causing the spike that badly. Maybe the wastegate controllers arent working too effectively.

That may be it, but it even happened again last night with my boost controller. It stopped it right at 1 bar (maxbost on the profec)

Maybe the wastegate controllers arent working too effectively.
Go figure, something NOT workin right on my car..
