Things I am doing to my FD
I decided to go all out for my 94. This weekend I get a DP, H-f Cat,hks catback. I already have a modified airbox. My next stage will be in about 6 to 8 weeks when I will get an intercooler, Y Pipe, ECU. I think thats all the mods I will want for a while performance wise. I will then get a JSPEC front end and have my car painted. Still debating keeping it black or painting yellow.
I got sick and tired of wanting this car since 1992, on the rare occasion that I would see one I would drool (similar to the way my car drools when I pass a chevron station).
end of next week I go on vacation, and I will be taking my seats out of my car and paint the entire interior (seats and carpet too) black. So in the end I will end up with black on black or yellow on black. I already re-painted the door panels black and painted the speaker grills chrome. I wonder what else I can do to it? I decided instead of buying a new car that I would buy an FD and make it look showroom condition.
The reason for this post? I dunno.

chrome speaker grills? well, thats your deal man. think about getting an upgraded ecu with all that performance whatnot. maybe you should reprogram it for the chrome speaker grills, too. haha. jk man.

I don't think I need to paint the engine bay. I mean, black is the ONLY color that looks ok in enginebay when rest of car is a different color. I figure odds are someday I need a new engine so I paint the bay when that happens. I saw a pic of a yellow with black bay and it looked fine. No I am not recarpeting it, I am using the secial fabric/vynle paint. I did my floor mats and they came out perfect, like new. The shop said that I can paint the seats with this stuff too, it really is supposed to work. I tested an old leather jacket and It worked real good.

you know what I think would be an awesome interior. cover everything in black leather, get new black high quality carpets made, and cover the seats in black leather with red stiching
looks real classic imo.

This special paint on the Seats..
Hmmm
I wonder if it will bleed...
When you are wearing light color
cloths and a white tshirt and it gets hot
and you sweat a little.
Just hope you not wearing your Armani, versaci,
Hugo boss outfit on a hot day. = )

Looking through my responses....
The paint will not comeoff the seats, even on a hot day. So there is no danger of it coming off on your clothes. This paint is very flexible, different from other paint. I have called 3 different leather shops as well as did some testing myself. Eventually as the seat wears, when the leather cracks you can start to see tan again, and may need to retouch up the paint.
I have posted pics in the interior section, look for my post "has anyone changed the color of the leather seats in the FD?". The carpet comes out amazingly good.
And about the ECU, If you read I plan on getting the ecu in my 2nd phase. For now its just a full exhaust DP, hiflow and catback.
Anyway I am still thinking about this cause its a big decision but if I do the seats I will post pics.

Wow, you really need to be careful with airbox mod, dp, hi flow, cb and no ecu. That's 1 or 2 mods more than the ecu can handle.
If the seats don't work out, there is someone selling his R1 seats on the forum in Sac.

Who is selling R1 seats? I may very well be interested. I did not see any in the f/s section.

Rx7Fashion AKA Rick's Rotary Performance is doing the upgrades. If it needs an ECU he will tell me. He did tell me when I do the intercooler I will need one for sure. He will test it after he does the installs today and let me know if I need the ecu.
