are there any 6speed fd3s?

i found i transmision on a shop that sells it as a 6 speed for rx7 car. i checked the gears and i count only 5 speeds .if i pull the stick from the 5th gear down to the supose "6th" it doesn t move. instead of that , the stick must move to the neutral and then to the "6th" position.
it seems to me like a 5 gear transmision but i wonder if i am mising something.
the man swears that the transmision is 6 gear.
another strange thing is that there is only 3 sensors upon that with two wires per sensor.
can anyone identify this transmision?
i wonder if i could fit it in my car. the condition is superb . i do not mind if there are only 5 gears.
but what about the sensors?

thanks

The only 6 speed transmission made for the FD was manufactured by HKS and retailed close to $7,000. If it is indeed a HKS transmission, there is a huge HKS stamping on the passenger side of it.

hi,
do you know if the 1-2 gear sensor and neutral sensor is needed with the pfc?
i could not find any info about pfc and these gear switches.
i wonder if mazda cancels these sensors in the newer models.
i guess that the three sensors are speedometer, backap, stoplights .
but i am not sure.
is there anyone who knows if mazda changed something in hers newer models?

The HKS unit is a hollinger unit that was made to HKS's specifications closer to 15,000 USD last time i checked.

The Greddy/TRUST unit is a rebadged Quaife unit that was closer to 10,000 USD.

Both those transmissions were dog engagement gearboxes.

Some people have used the Rx8 transmission in the FD3S as well.

rhdjapan.com sells the HKS transmission and notes that if the car is before 1996 it requires the F-Con as well. I do not know why though...

i checked three cars and found interesting info:
car with chasis number 113027 HAVE 1-2 gear sensor
car with chasis number 400747 DO NOT HAVE 1-2 gear sensor
car with chasis number 404087 DO NOT HAVE 1-2 gear sensor

all the other sensors on the transmition are the same : Neutral, speedometer and reverse.
the cars that do not have the 1-2 gear sensor have a plug in its position.

i guess that mazda for some reason desided that the 1-2 sensor is no more necesarry.
i wonder if i do not use it either with the pfc will make a diference.

please someone with information about that help me.
i am rewraping my harness and if it is not nesesary to use the 1-2 gear signal i will remove it from the harness.

thanks

They are all not needed. I have a 93 gearbox in my 2000RS while my Original gearbox is being fixed. No problems whats so ever.
