Symptoms of a exhaust leak?

Besides the obvious audible sound of an exhaust leak. What would be the specific symptoms as it relates to the twin turbos? Obviously I am talking about a leak at the exhaust side of the turbo, and not downstream.

Would it cause boost problems? I would think so, but how bad?

If you have a large enough leak to cause issues, then you'll have some exhaust fumes in that area. If you don't smell any fumes while the car is idling in that area, then most likely you don't have an exhaust leak (or at least not one serious enough to cause a problem).

exhaust leaks usually don't cause boost problems.

If you have a large enough exhaust leak upstream of you turbines, you will lose power or not hit your boost target because of exhaust energy leaking away.

Yea, because it will catch on fire where it's leaking. No thanks.

Oh, I dont' know. Maybe the fire I had to put out where my exhaust was leaking on my second gen. After I used ATF in it.

if you have a major enough exhaust leak before the turbos, I would be a bit more worried about what happened to the cast iron manifold... or if there could be negative effects of exhaust being RIGHT on the engine.
