Supra Owner Looking to Switch Sides
Call me a fool but, honestly. If I owned a single turbo Supra MKIV, I wouldn't think of trading it for a RX. Just for the ease of mind when it comes to the engine.
True, the MAzda handles way better, weight is lower, design.. well that's personal taste...
But even then.. a car is made to drive it. Too many people have 7's down because of the engine.
Stick with the Sup... just like the 7 it will become an all time supercar...

Well i must say for the last part of this thread i have to stand with Matty on this one.
I have owned and never wined about probs with my car (only a few) for the very reason he lays down in his previous posts.
Take my hat off to ya matty, couldnt have been said better.

Sorry guys! I didn't mean to dodge the question about what model my Supra is. I actually own both a JZA70 and a JZA80 (MKIV). Both are singled. It's the MKIV I'm looking to get rid of, the JZA70 still has a big place in my heart
EDIT: I just read some of the other posts, here's some answers:
1) I'm not going to buy an FD and keep all my other cars, that's just wayyy too many cars for me to own, especially with the addition of a car that requires due attention (the FD).
2) I'd never sell a Supra and get a Viper. I'd rather get the confederate flag tattooed on my forehead and change my name to "Buck" or "Billy-Bob". I'm Canadian, we don't buy Alabama Ferrari's
3) Thanks to everyone for their continued contributions about their FD opinions. It's a great help, believe it or not.

Damn, I didn't know igloos had garages?? Is it made out of snow and ice also??
J/k man, I don't care if you make fun of AL.. I just live here and work here.. Most people in this state of Alabama will never consider me as a native anyhow... LOL!

No, not snow and ice, the warmth of the cars would melt it. I made my garage from beaver pelts
I'm actually in Texas right now on business for the next few months, so I'm a foreigner here too. If any FD owners in Houston would be kind enough to let me sit in their car, I'd appreciate it!

Goto the South section of the forum and ask. Houston has one of the largest number of FDs in the country! I think?
Also, if you have time, goto Gotham Racing in Dallas and check out some cars there. Last time I went they had 10 or so FDs in their shop.

Gotham Racing, Dallas.... Okay, gotcha. I'll drive up there in the next few weeks. Are they a famous FD shop or somethin'?
LOL
I'm 6'2 but I'm a total pretty-boy, I couldn't intimidate a squirrel. Plus, I'm Canadian... I'm polite about everything.

True but juan, he wasnt even getting on it.

I been in the car, and its fast. And imagine that, 400+rwhp on only 9psi. Imagine if he gets tuned for 18psi which is he gonna do in spring, plus the 100 shot he never even touched that day
. Its all over son.. lol
NAH THAT U CANT GET he HE WAS FOR SURE GETTING ON IT WE WERE DOOVER 100 PUSHING IT!!!...NOW I cant agree w u.....tell him we can line up again at same psi....and nos sint my thing...temporary hp...im talking motor and turbo!!!......i think u better ask ur friend i HIGHLY DOUBT HE GET 400 AT 9PSI ON STOCK MOTOR!

2JZ's can handle 600+rwhp on bone stock engine reliablity.
There are even supras pushing 800rwhp on stock engine. Theres even a thread about it on the supra forum. I think its titled, "who has over 800hp on stock engine?"

There's too many variables, and there's not one person I've found that can substantiate their claims--to my satisfaction--that one motor is "more reliable" than another.
Bottom line: take any reliability comments with AT LEAST a few grains of salt.
Actually, I think the record for the stock block is something like 950 RWHP on a 2J.
Obviously, doing something like that isn't meant to prove reliability, but stoutness of the stock parts. Do 30 PSI on a stock 2J for long enough and it'll blow, but 'duh'.
And yes, 400RWHP is very possible on 9 PSI, but it's MUCH less than ideal and pretty daft to be honest. Reg Reimer in his 1-Lap of America MKIV pulls over 500 RWHP and he's running 1 BAR. I talked to him about it, and he does it for longevity since high boost, in the end, will kill any engine.
But let's not talk Supras, let's talk 7's

However, that being said, not much on the road is going to be able to handle a properly built single turbo Supra on the highway, that's where it shines. But you're correct, at around 400 RWHP, there isn't too much which seperates the Supra from the competition.

Its a toyota, nuff said. Im not talking about the most reliable car in the world and can be the most reliable when modded. Im talking about generally speaking, there are tons of supra guys making 600+ WITHOUT having to do anything or replace anything because something "broke" in the process. The car is bulletproof, both engine and throughout.
i highly doubt he has 400 rwhp at 9 psi , but if u say so!
