lol so true. now u guys understand where i was coming from in my earlier posts. i cant take this **** anymore. why dont u ******** go buy an ls1. i am tired of reading this ****. if u bought your 7 for a bullet proof engine and weant to make 600rwhp well then u fucked up. but if u bought your 7 for its uniqueness and its abillity to love to rev then good job.

You people call yourselves rotar heads or whatever give me a ******* break. u have no clue what the car and engine is even about! get out of here!

Well, then I should define 'big'.

Now, I know that not every supra has that much top end HP, but the power curves for big singles are essentially the same, just scale down the HP.

As you probably know, corvette's, due to their naturally aspirated nature (even with a 150 shot), have a nice linear powerband. When you race on the highway, you're above 4000-5000 RPM pretty much the whole time, if you know how to drive properly. The reason why Supras can defeat cars with even MORE power than themselves on the highway, is due to the power delivery. Of course, weight comes into the equation, but let's say that's pretty similar as well.

If you overlay a corvette powerband ontop of that, you'll see that in the upper RPM's, the 'big single' supra will have more power 'under the curve'. This is a common situation: A domestic car may have 50 more HP right at the end of it's power band, but for a good 2000-3000RPM a supra will have over 150 HP more since it spikes so sharply once the turbo spools (4000-5000 RPM for most big singles).

OBVIOUSLY there are exceptions, but I've beaten domestics with 50-100HP more than me from a roll (80 MPH usually). I've lost to some really nice V8's, sure, but I've never EVER lost to a domestic with less or equal horsepower. These are stock road cars I'm talking about... I'm sure a stripped down dodge dart with a 528 would hand me my *** :P

But for a rule of thumb, an 11 second supra will beat a 10 second v8 from a 80-roll. Again, there are exceptions, I'm not denying that.

Is that why supra owners only race from a roll (60mph and up) because that way they guarenteed a win?

That doesnt mean anything.

The power is there, traction is their heldback.

Why do you think the supra comes with like a 10 inch wide rim stock?

you shouldnt generalize z06s into your domestic category. they are light as hell and have a sick *** curve.
come on a supra making 1k is a very vert rare thing. we are talking about a handful across the usa. 150 shot z06s are everywhere.
lets be real here, most single turbo supras that i see on the street are making 450-650. the one that got its *** handed to it was making 650rwhp. the z06 walked him too. several times. i have known both owners for 15yrs atleast. what is even more sickening is that the dude with the z06 hardly dropped any money or EFFORT in to his car. bolt up the shot and have a nice day. how much money and effort goes into a supra to make 650rwhp, alot? if u guys want to talk street cars the z06 takes the crown, no if ands or buts about it. z06 making 550rwhp vs a supra @ 650 rwhp that z06s wins. thats throws your arguement about making 50-100rwhp less than "domestics" right out the window. i saw it with my own two eyes. these were hwy rolls from 2nd and 3rd gear. the supra owner did complain about some wheel spin but was man enough to concede that the z06 was a faster car. whast funny about was that like a typical supra owner the dude was saying he was gonna smoke him by "10 car lengths" believe that? thats what the guy said with a dead straight face. i said dude be careful the z06 is an easy 10 second car. then he got his *** handed to him. beleive it or not it was even cold old so u know that turbo was spoolin fast as hell and probably making an extra pound of boost.

The record in the 1/4 mile on a stock C5 Z06(Which puts down about 350rwhp) with stock rubber, was 11.91 by a guy named Ranger on the Corvette forums. He's also taken a new C6 Z06 with drag radials into 10.86xxx territory. They generally put out 440-470rwhp stock depending on how strong your motor is.

A friend of mine runs an 02' Z06 w/ Intake, LG Headers, Borla Exhaust, cam, port and polish, and tune, puts down 429rwhp and says he can stay even with 550-600rwhp Supras and they only start pulling away from him past 150-160mph...

I do love Mark IV's, but their weight is a downer for me. 200+lbs heavier than my C5, and 600+lbs heavier than my FD. Love the motor though.

tell your buddy to slap a shot in there. are u sure 11.91 is the record. i have heard that alot z06s have made it in to the 11s bone stock.

btw, i did beat that z06 i was talking about a few posts back with my stock twin stock motor fd when he wasnt running his shot. it made 390 off the shot....540 on it...heheh just thought i would throw that in there as i was pretty proud of my car.

If you did that, than hell ya I'd be proud of my car too. Definetly bragging rights.

I have a 150 shot for an LS1/LS6 but haven't put it on my c5 as I plan on trading it up for a Z06 and using the Nitrous on that. Still don't know what I'm going to do with my FD yet motorwise...

Yup.
No supra expert would ever race from a dig if they had a choice.

I had a whole long reply typed out, but forget it.

If you want to find out why you're wrong, PM me and I'll gladly prove that your ONE incident is the exception, not the standard. I got videos, dyno sheets, testimonials, I can even put you in touch with some other people.

Our debate has no place in this thread.
