i think you'd like this story, my idle starts around 2000, when it gets broke in, its about 1200, but then when it warms up its at 750, now the funny thing, i just installed a triple pillar in my car, b/c my oil pressure was acting up, and we took her for a cruise, now, the idle was fun, until we got on it, then, it went back up to around 1200, 2000, then went back to 750, so honestly, i just think the rex's have a mind of there own. lol.. not much help. but, im hangin w/ you man, i've asked this question b4, did it get answered, no.. i just got a bunch of criticism from the high posters.. so, the only thing i can tell u, is to just do some research and find the best info. u can, thats all the other guys are gonna tell u to do, but i said it, not being a jerk. =) ill let u know if i fix my idle problem, ill look into it more.. PM me if u figure it out b4 i do.. good luck.

My friend had the same problem. It turned to be the turbo gasket.

Good luck!

If they messed with the TPS at all, this thread may be helpful:

High idle can only be caused by air getting around the throttle body that shouldn't be. You've either got -

- throttle body stuck open
- vacuum leak after the throttle body
- ISC stuck open.

It's one of the three.

I second this above. I just put in a new motor and had 3k idle. Ended up being the throttle stuck open just a tad. I guess from sitting so long it gunked up. Took a rag and some wd 40 and cleaned it up and the car idle's perfect now.

try giving it a few small revs and see if it drops, also that port might have something to do with the idle but i dont have much experiance with engine ports, also have you had the advanced warm-up system diabled?

That's exactly what happened to me. The bottom butterfly was stuck open just a little bit. I messed with the idle screws, and TPS, and ISC, and it turned out to be the throttle body.

This is assuming that all gaskets are good and in place. Also assuming that there are no other openings that could let more air into the combustion chambers. If you think you have a leak somewhere, use soap and water in a squirt bottle to help find the problem. I've also heard of using starter fluid as well.

If the only thing changed was the ECU, then check the ECU first. The obvious thing to check would be the rev/idle setting in your PFC.

Thank you for ALL your good advice..i've got the idle down to 1700 now ..but i noticed something weird..i took the Uim off clean everything up made sure that the was no leaks everything was good put it all back to geather and the idle went down to 950 or so.(big smile on my face) then i noticed that i for got to connect the vacum line to the map sensor..i left the car running hooked the vacum line up and the idle went up to 1700 and thats were im at now...

If the ECU has been disconnected from the battery for a while then it needs to reset itself to the engine. It only takes about 15 minutes to do this.
