Sunroof Stopped Working
I need help in determining what the problem could be. Here's the situation... I've had my sunroof open (either completely or tilted) the whole day and it was working fine. At the time of the problem the sunroof was tilted and I went to open it completely but nothing happened. No sound from the motor at all when I flip the toggle to "open". However, when I flip the toggle to "close", it would shut with no problems. Now the sunroofs stuck in the closed position. When I play with the switch I only hear the motor when I flip it to "close". Anyone else experience this problem before? Is it simply a lose wire connection or is my motor hooped? I lubed the track and all moving parts just last week and I've never had this problem until today. Any ideas?
BTW, it's a 94 Touring if that helps. Thanks.

When mine was broken, it would make a noise when you tried to open or close it - it didn't sound like it was under a lot of stress or anything, it just made the normal noise but the thing wouldn't move. Turns out it was broken tracks & gears. It's one hell of an expensive fix if you take it to Mazda (read: ~$4,000), so it may be worth it to try pull out the headlinder and find out for yourself.

Sometimes I've had to physically push up on the sunroof to get it to the "up" position and then it slides fine. Lately sometimes it will get stuck and I'll have to play with the switch to get it to work - damn 10 year old cars 4K fix by Mazda - they would be like that to charge almost a 1/4 of the the value of the car to fix a fricken sunroof!

Just as a side note to anyone who has their sunroof stuck open, there is a flap in the headliner to manually operate the sunroof. Just thought I'd point that out to anyone who doesn't know and gets stuck in the rain.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll take off the headliner and see check over the wires. I'm hoping that something just came loose. Thank god my A/C works, or I'll overheat faster than my engine!!
dclin: If I need that motor, I'll email you about it.
Thanks again guys!

I have a similar problem except my sunroof won't close.
It'll open fine, but there is no sound when I put the switch for "close" position. It happened during one of the initial Texas storms we just had recently. Luckily, it wasn't open all the way, but partially. I had lots of towels in the car incidently.
The manual mechanism for the sunroof requires a metric alan hex wrench which isn't the most readily available tool when you're on the road in Texas.
I'm going to open up the switch and clean the contacts.
It reminds me of the window switch with the FC cars.
