Sucessfully made a highly modified t78 rx7 quiet!

My post never posted so here it is again kinda... Cops have been harassing me about my pettit exhaust with ahuge hole in the muffler with a midpipe ect.. So I decided to build my own. Its 3-3.5 inches with a resonator in the center and a Dynomax True 3inch muffler with a nice resonated 4 inch tip. The outcome.. the car is QUIET. On a scale of 1-10.. 1 being stock, 10 being a Apex GT or my pettit with the hole.. My car is around a 3-4.. I will post pics and movie later.

Good choice on the Dynomax. I'm about to replace my Apexi N1 with a Dynomax 3".

Since the Dynomax just has roving fiberglass, won't it eventually burn up from the hot exhaust gas? I would think something with metal media would be a better choice.

the resonator is just a 3.5 inch in and out basically inline resonator.. almost fartcan like. I dont know what brand it was just one I picked up at a local muffler shop. I will try to make some movies when I get my cammera back.

I am planning on doing a full 4" exhaust with two magnaflow race mufflers with 4"inlet and outlet, think it will be quiet with my large streetport and SR Motorsports KKK / HX 35 turbo? hehe.

I have 4in downpipe, to a 3inch exhuast dump (electronic open headers), to a 3in pipe to some muffler (unknow . .. cam with car). I usually run open headers and when cops come i close them off!

A few guys hae tried the Borla XR-1 racing muffler and have also been pretty happy.

I always recommened the Borla anyways because it has been tested by Borla to loose only around 1hp when compared to a straight pipe.

Borla uses stainless steel packing so it will never blow up with a rotary. I have the old Borla catback and Love how it sounds. Different from most of the other exhausts out there. I even plan to upgrade it to a custom Borla with a 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlets.

Does anyone think the Borla XR1 muffler would be more quiet than a Peter Farrell 3"? And would it make as much if not more power? I have the Peter Farrell exhaust and the car sounds like a lawnmower on steroids....or better yet like that stupid supertrapp popping sound. It annoys me.

I noticed that my magnaflow muffled in the midpipe coupled with the GT spec Catback makes my exhaust sound nice, smooth, and powerful, but loud as compared to just midpipe or catalytic converters with GT Spec exhaust that sound rattly. I get lots of compliments on how good my car sounds.

I put my Stock exhaust back on with midpipe, and welded in an electric cutout on the downpipe.
Then all you have to do is put around town, and when someone wants to play, you just flip the switch. LOL....
