Substitute fuel hose

I located the fuel smell to the fuel hose in the picture. I got the biggest sticker shock in my life, when the Mazda dealer priced it at $168!!!!!! One hundred and sixty eight US dollars...

So the question is, can I just substitute a regular fuel hose for the part?

You can get high pressure fuel line andin order to make the tight curve with out kinking the line closed . You ask how do do that ? Get thin wall tube ( steel brake line and bend a curve in it with a tubing bender . Then cut it to length, oil it and push it in to the rubber hose ( hard to do ) ,make your connections and you have saved $ 168 . This was done 4or 5 years ago and was still good when removed to go to a custom rail .

Oh yes, that's the part Shawn... $168. I think I'll just replace it with a HP fuel hose, the bend isn't too sharp so I dont expect it to kink.

Thanks for all replies.

This was one of the recalls that Mazda performed. I think you should bite the bullet and get one. Call Ray Crowe and ask him for it. I think he is cheaper then that price.

I think I sold mine for like $10. There have to be alot of people who have replaced their rails that have this laying around. Make a WTB post for it in the 3rdgen classified section and you should find one.

Use my pic if you want -

Thanks for the tip guys.

Assuming that my car hasn't done the recall, would the dealer fix my modified car? It has a few reliability mods, most drastic of all: non-seq.

Call Ray at Malloy, I just bought a complete kit that replaces all the hoses in the manual picture you posted. Total cost was $79.06. P/N: N3A1-13-S70A. You can reach Ray at 703-490-8170.

BTW. It's the same kit the deal uses to perform the recall.
