Subaru vs. Seven?

Which car should I buy? A used mazda rx7 1993+ or 2002 Subaru WRX Impreza. Both would be automatic and probably modded a bit. Do ya have any facts to why each car is better and stuff like that?

Thanks in advance

Depends on what your going to use it for, how often, do you know anything about rotaries. Automatic RX7's don't hold up to alot of modding compared to a 5speed.

I am pretty sure the WRX is NOT available in auto. Thank goodness too...would be a shame to have an auto in that beauty. Anyways, it all depends on the type of performance you want. If you want a fun car that can lug people around, get the sube. If you want a sports car that you can pour your heart into, FD. Also you should search all of the issues that sevens have so that you would know what you would be getting into.

just my $0.02

From Subaru.com

Manual Transmission (Standard) 5-speed manual with overdrive.

Automatic Transmission (Optional) 4-speed electronically controlled automatic with overdrive. Automatic power mode engages with rapid use of the accelerator pedal.

can't you drive stick?? I've heard good things about the WRX and heard they are fun to drive - but nothing will compare to the looks and performance of the FD - especially when modded, no other car except the Supra can match the potential of the FD. The WRX's looks still haven't grown on me yet - very plain - but if you want to snap heads as you go by and rip the paint off other cars - get the 7 - if you want more reliability and a new car - get the sube.

while i can understand the benefits of an auto, if you're going to get a performance car, get a manual. i have both cars and believe me, you WANT a manual.

if you don't knoe how to drive manual, find someone to teach you. i think we all mean this VERY seriously and VERY emphatically. we want you to enjoy the car as much as possible, and to get the most out of a performance car, you need to be able to row those gears! good luck.

actually, why the WRX is a little underpowered, they run about the same 1/4 mile times

and They are into the 12s with the stock turbo just like the FD

I would say if you want passangers get the WRX, if you want looks get the FD

The FD will also be better in the "twisties" stock then the stock WRX, but the wrx can go play in the dirt too

BTW i have owned both...

ive had both...wrx is 5speed...drove an auto before the dealership got a manual in...dont buy that..my opinion..wrx wont break like a 7 but on the other hand 7 looks 10 time better and handles better unless you put 18's and suspension on the wrx

I used to drive stick shift cars when I was in Europe but when I came to USA its almost worthless since every 1/8 of mile there is a traffic light. So its like changing gears every second. lol.
