2 things...problems

any of you guys know why if I bring 1st gear up high, especially to redline, 2nd isnt as responsive and the exhaust tone is kinda differt, muffled more maybe...

also, when I accelerate past 80 up to about 110, if I let off the gas around those speeds, I get a strange sound/vibration from the rear/bottom...I suspect the Apex-i N1...

thanks

I shouldn't be chiming in because I don't own an FD... yet. But WHY THE **** WOULD YOU REDLINE IN FIRST GEAR???? could be you clutch if 2nd is slipping and you need to go high in first just to get something outta second. hehe, Apexi's are nice... I got the Duals... mine rattles too, but it's not horrendous or anything. Someone else will post and let you really know whats going on. Good luck

No offense, but I have no idea what you're talking about either...

I understand 1st goes by pretty fast on a modded FD and I have hit the redline by accident but I would hope you aren't shifting at redline all the time.

Can you clarify on what you mean by 2nd not being as responsive? or the exhaust tone being different?

well, not even redline, if I even tap the 2nd turbo {5k} then I shift and when 2nd gear is climbing its not as smooth accelerating as had I gone into it from 1st at a lower rpm...
and the exhaust tone soundsdifferent/weird/muffled...

Do you have a boost gauge? Are you getting full boost in 2nd gear? My car seems to be having a similar problem, but I haven't even begun to troubleshoot it yet. If I just have it in any gear (except maybe first), and I floor it, I get the proper boost pattern, like 11-8-11. If I then shift into the next higher gear and floor it, my boost only goes to 7 psi. It only does this on high throttle runs.

Its kinda hard to explain, but I get good boost pattern if I'm just driving normally and then do some WOT. But if I'm doing some WOT, when I shift to the next gear I only get 7lbs. Probably a check valve or something stupid.

Damn sequential.

sound like the 2nd turbo is getting a mild fuel cut too {just sounds like it, though I know its not}, just so you guys get an idea of the kinda exhaust tone I mean...
it accelerates a tiny bit rough, but around 6500 it smooths out till redline

It's because you are stuck in non-sequential mode. You have to go below 3K to get back into sequential mode.

so how can I avoid it and keep the revs up? it only happens if I push 1st above 5 grand, not always necessary but it is sometimes, plus, I just know sumthin aint right...if I use 1st lightly, all the rest of the gears will launch properly to redline {except for the minor burping glitch from about 5500 to 6200, sounds more raspy and pops a little...}

how 'bout on the exhaust vibration, how have you guys taken care of that? I looked on the pipe and it is definitely hitting the differential when I let off the gas between 80-110, just vibrating/bouncing up and down....has to be what causes the shaking/noise in the car, I have the Apexi N1 as I said before.......

What have you checked in the turbo control system? Are you sure that the TCA and related solenoids, as well as the CCV, CRV and all related solenoids are in proper working order? If not, then get to testing.
