stupid smell question

i was just curious as to what kind of smell do u get from your fd? i mean, like from ac vent and what not. i noticed that when im on the freeway and i decide to gas it, i get this foul smell creeping into the cabin (like hot ***).

i have no problems with the other smells which i consider normal, such as exhaust, oil, gas etc...

The smell of "hot ***", eh? I wouldn't know that - what are you, a turd burglar?

Usually if your A/C gives off a foul odor, it's from the condensation (moisture) that forms when you use it. This is pretty common in a lot of cars. Turn your blowers on high (w/ the A/C off) for several minutes to dry the system out.

re:

i don't know about a "hot ***" smell . . . but one time when i was running low on coolant I got a "fishy aka dirty punani smell." Adding a little antifreeze took it right away.
Usually when you get an odd smell, check your oil, coolant, and radiator.

Are you sure the smell is not coming from you?

The ac components can grow mould due to the condensation, this causes smells. Take it to an AC place, they can spray crap in the car to clean it out.

Got any oil/coolant leaks? Upon hard acceleration on the freeway, I get a "burning oil smell". (I have a few minor oil leaks)

You may try to close the vents in your car (the recirculation button)

Also, these cars tend to run hot & the motor is right in front of the firewall. A lot of heat could be creeping into your cabin.

I doubt it has anything to do with the a/c system itself if it only happens upon hard acceleration. I mean if there's something dead or low ac or whatever, you'd smell it all the time.

sounds like a clogged cat to me
This could be it too, but I'm not too sure how foul smells would get into the cabin b/c of the cat at freeway speed. Maybe at idle in the garage though...

there is a lot of heat that creeps through.
