stupid question: tranny fluid

is it possible to fill the tranny through the shifter opening?

only the shift leaver is oiled with that . the trans is filled through the front 14mm square nut located on the drivers side of the transmission the fluid should be toped up till it leaks out of the fill hole , if your down there anyway make sure the upper vent is open its looks like a small mushroom on the upper part of the trans if youfind it turn the top till it moves freely it will help stop trans fluid from pushing out of rear seal if you work the trans hard, and heat up the fluid Ps try synthetic fluids they work great helps with sincros and smooth shifting

The answer is no because there is an oil seal where the shift rod runs into the housing.
