I'm a CF and poop smith
its worth it yet its not, unless you are gonna go all out and strip everything (and im talking like dropping your fuel tank in favor for a 3 gallon fuel cell and pulling the front and rear bumper supports as well as gutting your doors and taking off your dash for a CF dash copy or just junking it all together). I know for a fact that a 2800lb FC will turn in to a 1300lbs shell when you pull everything out of it incluiding about 30lbs of sound deading as well as engine+tranny. when you cut it up even more (and go nuts with a hole saw) and replace the windows with lexan, you will drop another 300 lbs (ask me how i know ) in anycase, when you put in a a fuel cell and S2k engine which weights 480lbs with the tranny and a full cage, it will go back up about 2000lbs just about. i know that if you strip a fc (everything except for dash) it will weight just about 2500lbs flat.
most fd guys arent this hardcore or will actually beable to use it so my suggestion is if you got the cash, up boost and up power to negate the weightloss option.
BTW: I'm using fc's as examples as they are very much like fd's in weight and plastic crap inside, also its what i have seen first hand
on another point, im not quite brave enuf to strip the hell out of my fd but my fc is already stripped out so pounding out the sound deading isnt much of a stretch (you should see my fc's dash, its cut in 1/2 and im gonna cut it in 1/2 again )

it really depends on your goal with the car.
As you know the car was designed to be lightweight from the start, with the lightweight hood, little sound deadening and overall cheap dash, and the thin metal used throughout the body.
If youre racing your car, by all means strip it. Taking out stuff like spare tire, sound deadening, dashboard, carpet, all do not contribute much more than going on a diet yourself. Its really your call, but this car was definantly designed to be lightweight from the start. Lots of people take out the airpump and AC and this helps, and doesnt hurt functionality of the car much, and also adds power.

I assume your car is a pure race car? If not, I think you've seen TF&TF a few too many times....
The seats are a huge weight savings item. The stock leathers weigh about 45 lbs each, while most racing buckets are in the 15-18 lb range, which would save you 55-60 lbs.
