which street port template is right for me?
i am thinking about rebuilding and street porting my engine. Looking for about
350whp on 14psi stock twins. I have power fc, walbro pump, v-mount ic, exhaust, downpipe, etc.... I have some street port templates options like
-mazdatrix
-pineappleracing
-custom street port by loquito killer (puerto rican)
which template of street port is the best? Post your results and experience with these or any other templates

If you need to pass emissions I would not go larger than a Racing Beat or Pineapple small street port. You also have to be very conservative with the exhaust. I have done up to my stage 3 ports on stock twin turbo cars, but it is really not necessary. The customer sometimes insists or plans to change to a larger turbo in the future. Bigger is not always better. Larger ports work to help spool a big turbo, but you lose some low end torque. You can easily reach your goals with a moderate size port and still retain decent idle and driveability. Also, unless you have a ton of engine building and porting experience, I would not attempt anything too aggressive or that is not proven. A template only gives you an idea of the shape of the port on the surface. There are a lot of techniques in shaping the inside, the transitions, and the opening and closing points that require extensive knowledge to perform properly. It will be easier to make a mistake with a more aggressive template. If you are unsure, I or I am sure some of the other engine builders on here would be more than happy to port the plates for you.

Engine builders differ in opinion as to what is considered a larger or smaller port. I put some well knows ones up for reference. You can hit your power goals on a stock port if you spend enough time on the tune. A port will make it easier. I did 360rwhp @ 15 psi 10 years ago with a mild port.

i am not the person porting. My mecanic is. In the future (at least 6 months away) i will go single so i am trying to make an engine that would last and work well with a t04s or gt5r turbo with 400whp. i am also "pining" my engine so it will hold 20psi (in case i need it).

question : if i do a mild street port and lets say 6 months away i want to go single turbo and wish to do a large street port, do i have to rebuild the engine again? could i just port the plates and only replaced the gaskets?

You'll be fine with a "medium" streetport all the way around. Going too aggressive can lead to problems and most of the time won't yield any progress to your twin turbo setup. I've seen irons were people have been really excited and veer off the template only to go into the oil control ring area. Please just get a bigger stud kit, don't dowel pin the block. It's really up to the person porting that will determine the outcome. The port is only for reference, there's too many techniques in the bowl that make the real power...
