Today after work when I started my car, my exhaust pitch was sooo low and deep. The last time I heard a change like that in exhaust pitch was after I lost an apex seal. After freaking out for 5 seconds or so, it went away and all is good now. What was that?
BTW, this engine only has like 1,000 miles on it. Been great except this one hickup!

 

Perhaps a temporarily stuck side/corner/apex seal. Any port work? And did the car sit for awhile?

 

possible waste gate actuator stuck would that give a different exhaust note ?

 

Was sitting for about 7 hours. No port work, just a reman engine that ran for the first time about 1 1/2 months ago. I drove it home (30 min trip) and no problems.

 

Definitely. If the e-clip came off and the arm comes loose, that could do it.

 

If a clip came off, I would expect that to happen again, or no?

 

Yep, happened again. Sat overnight. Lack of power, strange exhaust note, lasted about 8 - 10 seconds. Ran fine after. Didn't bother looking at the turbo/vaccum guage. If it is a sticking apex seal, or whatever... should I expect a loss of vaccum?

 

check your spark plugs...
