Stop Putting *help* In Thread Titles
ESPECIALLY for topics that don't require it and you're just trying to get attention.
Don't worry people are reading your thread regardless.

I understand where he is coming from.
I'm sick of the questions asking for a poll about insurance costs. That question can not be compared due to numerous factors,...but for some strange reason,...people post all the time.

And why don't people have a little more "Common Sense"?

Teddy is right about his particular post. There is no need to include "Help" in your subject at all. People do click on threads any way.
He wasn't saying that whether something was right or not. He was just mentioning that there was no need to include the word "Help" in the subject area.

I think the point is more about the fact that when you look at the threads on any give day 95% are "HELP MY CAR WON'T START!!!!" Or "I can't find ____ I've searched, HELP" and it ends up being someone wondering the difference between an R1 and touring or something unimportant like that, that if searched for would have been a quick and easy answer. Typically these posts are from people that have not even investigated the problem prior to posting or have not searched yet and think their problem is unique. It's more aggrivating than it is a real problem.

uh, come on guys, people are just looking for a little help. Granted they should search a little harder or better but... "Where is the love..." oh crap I feel a song coming on, I better go!

I think TTT speaks for all of us who've been here a while....I have little patience for lazy and annoying newbies as well.....
When I was new here, I didn't go around posting a bunch of crap and wasting bandwidth. I read a LOT and then I read some more. I found most of the answers to all my immediate questions without wasting site bandwidth. The fact is, I still start very few new threads because most of the time, someone else has had or is having the same problem and all it takes is a few minutes of looking.....(steps off of soapbox)

The search feature is pretty useful, but a lot of people have a hard time seeing the itty-bitty link at the top right. I added a link to that search function in my sig, and I think that a few of you guys with high post counts or that post often should have it in your sig as well.

Say Rynberg, since I registered around the same time as you, does that make me an OG member too? j/k
That was way before I had an RX7, I started doing my research early. I am still working on my post count though.

Opps.. I feel bad now.. I been on the forum for about 2 years.. and I recently titled my thread with "HELP".. but i did searched everywhere and didn't get any solution.. i was literally need of some info..
I do understand that there are ton of young crowd on this forum.. who does not search and this is like their 1st or second car that they purchased with their own money.. and not realizing that it take LOT more to mod than just sticking cat back and intake.. i mean recently, (Name not to be mentioned..) young kid told me he wants full exhaust and catback(hmm).. with intake on a stock ecu.. and wanted to run 12lb's.. and I'm trying to tell him that that's a rookie mistake.. and just get the down pipe.. He didn't get it.. and asked "whats rookie mistake?".. So, I had to explain to him.. And he wanted all these things done to his car.... And i been there.. and I have learned from my mistakes.. and I wish I had someone to guide me thru..
I guess if we could have a section where more experienced.. not that post count matters, but it does take time to build 1000+ posts.. and if you do make that kind of post, eventually you will catch on that some posts are just waste of time..
My post right now could be completely meaningless to most of you.. but if we could set something where someone need 1000+ to enter, it might resolve some issues..
I do try my hardest to not post dumb questions.. but sometimes Its hard to judge when you need answer quick or not have enough time..

Besides, post count means nothing. I know quite a few members of this forum with over 2000 posts -- approximately 3 of which have been of use to anyone but amusing themselves. On the other side of that argument, my 3000+ posts certainly don't make me more knowledable than some of the real innovators and smart guys here...you know you who are...
The only way to cut down on the worthless posts is increased moderation -- but that requires our help too. If you see a worthless post, use the "report" function...I do.

Well I too have been around quite awhile and get sick of seeing repetitive topics and nonsense however asking people to stop doing it isnt going to solve anything. People will continue to post whatever they want, how about those people that refuse to simply bump their threads and just start new ones asking the exact same thing the original one asked, now thats friggin annoying and those are the people complaining about how slow the forum can be from time to time, gee I wonder why, too many unnecessary posts. TTT I see where you are coming from but there is no way around it, people will continue to do it so why even waste time arguing about it, just my opinion.

should the moderators become *****? (speling?)
i for one just plain dont reply with much knowledge anymore. if someone has a dumb question... learn how to use the search function or figure the **** out. there is enough info out there to do so. not saying i know it all, but i absolutly understand if i have a question on say the haltech mailing list where there are MANY people smarter than myself in that area, i dont even sweat it if my question goes unanswered. it forces me to learn more on my own...
on the topic of an *advanced* section, read the link by DomFD3S.... i suguested a section unviewable to people who are not invited in.... boo figity hoo if you were not invited. i would LOVE to see this happen. people who just sign up and are new would not even know it existed, so how could they feel "left out"
thats my $.02
