Posts dont mean anything. I have been visiting this forum before the hack. I only registered when I got the FD cause I didnt see why I should register to a rx7 forum when I didnt own a RX7. In the 2 years that I have been here I am no where near that 1000 post count and I really dont think that I will ever get there. People that joined after me have over the 1000 post count. So for the people that dont postwhore and dont post useless things on this forum... what about them? There are people here that have well over 2k post counts and still post mainly bullshit.

There is no way to resolve the problem. Its like asking how to resolve the war... everyone has a different opinion and everyone thinks differently. I dont cry everytime someone posts why they say that women are idiots, yea its annoying, but you have to get over it. Everything isnt going to go your way or be any less annoying.

Remember there will always be stupid people in this world. If theres a thread asking whats the loudest BOV, the differences in the different models, how many CYMs were imported to the US, or what body kit looks the phatest, just ignore it. If no one replies it will go away. If people just reply with bitching "use the search function you ******* noob" or people answering them with the same thing over and over and over again the first page is going to be filled with all that bullshit as it usually is.

Besides, post count means nothing. I know quite a few members of this forum with over 2000 posts -- approximately 3 of which have been of use to anyone but amusing themselves. On the other side of that argument, my 3000+ posts certainly don't make me more knowledable than some of the real innovators and smart guys here...you know you who are...

The only way to cut down on the worthless posts is increased moderation -- but that requires our help too. If you see a worthless post, use the "report" function...I do.
I do agree with you.. post count is nothing.. but at the same time, it will reduce number of newbies.. and if newbies are spending day and on trying to make 1000 post to see what others are posting at a closed section of the forum... well, during their process, they might learn something.. or have combination of both, moderating those who reach 1000 posts in less than a year to join in..,.. well thats a flag to show that they are posting useless info.

I'm not in any way think that I'm some sort of an expert.. But I myself is a victim of posting "Need HELP!" in the past.. but usually I do try my best to come up with question that might be helpful to me and others in the future..

Also, i tried to help some newbies.. since when I first started posting on this forum, many of you did help and I also want to return that favor..

Every time I see a post that says "help", I think of some little crybaby kid that needs his mommy. Usually I don't read them. He can get help from mommy or someone else more tolerant than me.

Simply state your question or problem. "Need help quick" will NEVER get a response from me.!!

I have found that some of the newbies immediately start posting a bunch dumb threads. If you are a newbie, and are reading this, don't come to the forum and start a bunch of threads. The veterans will soon become annoyed with you, and stop helping. These are the people most valuable to you. Don't make them turn away every time they see your name.

Another thing I forgot to mention. I wish people would really be more specific w/ the subject titles. Just posting "Help" is completely useless. At the very least, people should title their thread in a manner which helps people know what they are talking about. That way, we don't have to click on the post, but we know that the topic is.

For example, at the very least, you can state in the title that you are having a starting problem, or a clutch issue (which most forum members are good about). But there are some that just scream "help" or "need some info" and that is all.

ok... how about we educate the uneducated to be more creative in specifying their problem/s wiv their cars? and then only to find the thread to be "what is the louddaasst BOV for my car!!!", what do we do next??

We have to be a lil more realistic.. There are things that we can change, but there are also things that we can not change! Its up to the Moderator and the help of each members to set a stricter guidelines on what is allowed and not allowed.

How about a VIP section or something??

forum *****...i tell ya....

rules rules...if you peeps posted input and help as much as ya gripe about noobs this would be a better place.

as far as post count ranking or whatever...hell that would put people like rotorrocket the gangsta thug at the top of the heap. lounge posts dont count lol

I have a forums at www.conceptart.org ..tis not as big as this one but i have 5k members and a similar noob problem. on that forum we have a secret hidden forum for the pros and it is working out very well. I would not suggest the same thing here on the site...the problem arises when great threads are in the pros section that would help people in the regular forums. on my site its hidden because the art can not be shown to the public...on this forum however it is entirely unnecessary.

if you ask me the single turbo and rotary performance sections are the same as my hidden forum...mostly knowledgable peeps...not the lounge quality as here in the thrd gen section. if you wanna spot to hang with the pros..go in there...the noobs dont go posting stupid **** in there usually. tis like the sites little secret...if you need info that is the place to find it.

hiding good info from the people that are new, by having a private forum, is silly. it harms...after all...how many of you would have been fukked if scuderiaciriani.com was for invite only. Before the forums that site was GOLD. see what im saying?

dont be greedy...help the needy

J "artguy",

I argree with you.. I think back to my newbie days, and I didn't even know what rotary engine was.. Now, almost most of it make sense and I even have a spare engine that I'm going to rebuilt myself, with help only minutes away if I get into trouble..

I do understand that post counts don't mean anything.. also, the new comers are usually young, teenagers, who haven't had the chance to get familiar with how this forum works.. To be honest, I'm not sure either sometimes..

And the "secret" forum or section would be unique.. so that those who are sick of newbies posting same questions over and over could feel more at "ease" by only talking about more "mature" questions.. Than why not set something like that?? Or instead of post counts, do age limit (age 21 and over)?? either way, some will feel that its unfair/unjust, but sometimes that is needed to make majority at ease..

Just my 2 cents..

i dont see a good way to resolve anything.

i hardly ever post, and now come here much less, when i was new it "seemed" like i read informative things every day. now everything just seems "watered down". i guess its a factor of me knowing whats going on. (not to say i know a lot, i dont), but i know all that i need/ want to know.

if there was a VIP forum, my first thought is i'd like to be a member, but i have no posts, and no knowledge so i wouldn't be eleigible, but then i think, i really dont care. i've gotten what i want out of this forum, and only come here to search.

for me the essence of this forum is the information i can find through searching. everything i will ever need has probably been covered. have a good one

Ward, I also agree with you.. Most of the stuff, i think I could find it thru the forum. just few things I would like to get more info..
For examplet my recent problem.. I have 99 front end and want to keep the oem fogs (99+) when I put my fmic.. I wanted to know what others have done.. But only very few responded.. maybe because I put "HELP".. i dont know.. I thought it was a valid question.. but could be also thought of as newbie question.. who knows...

I also like this forum because it lets us show our views and opinions.. Look at this thread.. Is it really informative far as the car?? not really but its informative and interesting in that we all are listening and reading our opinions.. And also trying to come up with possible solution..

I believe the most fair, and easy solution, would be for those who have problems, to ignore the post of 'problem causers'. Not much else can be done, as there is a definite learning curve to this forum, and there will only be annoyances unless we excercise patience with newer members. As much as I support the idea of newer members using the search feature more, on the opposite side, it's equally annoying to see our veteran members constantly complaining about what they feel the forum should consist of. Honestly, everything here is to be expected, and often comes as no surprise- most people prefer to have things handed to them if possible, rather than go out of their way for the solution. The same goes for veteran members who would rather have the forum their way, rather than accepting it for what it has become, and dealing with it accordingly. Starting an exclusive section would limit the amount of 'help' threads, but as with anything, BS will find it's way into that section as well. I personally find it easier to walk away from the computer if I find the forum to be that bothersome- otherwise I deal with it.

While this won't help stop current noobs from asking rediculous questions, it might help reduce future annoyances.

When people sign up, make them read a short paragraph explaining what to do and what not to do on this board. (Use the search, use common sense, use descriptive post headings, etc.) Then just have a couple of questions at the end to make sure that they read it.
That way when they their posts get locked, moved, or deleted, they SHOULD know why.
