stock twin problem

Running stock twins w/ 113k miles on them. Only building 6 lbs. boost on secondary. Primary is fine at 10 lbs. My mechanic (he has a 375 rwhp 7) says turbo is shot and needs rebuild/replacement. He's removing them now. Friend knows someone who will rebuild in this area for around $400, sounds too good 2 be true. Any ideas/advice would be appreciated. $ is a problem, gotta stay twin.

Personally, I would only go with a turbo rebuilder that you know and trust. I've heard of many horror stories of bad turbo rebuilds. On that note, you should check out BNR. Their standard rebuild is going to be more than $400 (I think), but at least you'll know it's done right.

$400 is a joke..does that company even offer a warranty - contact Bryan at bnrsupercars@aol.com or go to www.bnrsupercars.com and look into a rebuild there. He knows these turbos inside and out and his standard rebuild goes for $750. He also includes a 1 year/ unlimited mileage warranty.. there are a LOT of bad turbo rebuilders out there..go with one that's proven

Thanks, I agree with both of you. Better spend a bit more and get the warranty. Now I just gotta hope mine are rebuildable. Gonna see them tomorrow. Anyone ever do the comparison between BNR and M2? Just curious.

I thought money was a problem? The M2 turbos are $3300 (with usable core)!

I believe you can get a lower staged upgrade from BNR for half the price (and use the rest of the money in better ways).

Whoops, misunderstanding. I asked about M2 just out of curiosity. No $ for ball bearing. If I DID spend that much, I'd probably go single. But for now, the best I could afford is the stage 1. Will probably do just the basic rebuild.

Are U sure it is the turbos?

I have the same problem and my car has only 56K on the original turbos. I am going to do the vacuum hose replacement and test (replace) all the solenoids before just replacing the turbos. Could be a way cheaper fix.

No, I"M not sure it's the problem, but he does seems to know what he's doing & is an overall good, honest guy. Had the vacuum lines redone 4 years ago. It started after I had my lower intake gasket replaced. Any ideas?
