I'm thinking they're talking about the tabs that the steering column cover uses for attachment. The upper and lower half are held together by interlocking "tabs" molded into the sides.

The stock cover has locking tabs holding it in place over the steering column. This is probably a version of gauge mount that doesn't have the locking tabs. If so, you usually hold it in place with a few dabs of silicone. Who makes it?

hmm has anyone filed this type to fit 60mm in. I really wanna get an apexi as I have the EL unit already fitted and would mean just shoving it in the car rather than another make which would mean more effort than I wanted to spend hehe

I think trying to enlarge the opening to 60mm would be too big; you'd be taking out 4mm on both sides, and that would probably go past the edge of the gauge opening.
