stock or not?
my Fd at this point is factory stock and it runns just fine.i wanted to start eliminating all the emmissions stuff and everything else i dont need, but i am affraid that i will make it loose value or make it runn like a bag of sh*it. should i just leave it alone and just enjoy the car or should i start messing with it.
You need to find out if the benefits of removing things outweighs the side effects. I think everyone would agree that a bone stock car claims a higher resale value than one that has been mildly modified...even if that mod was just removing stuff. Reliability mods I would not consider value killers. If you are just removing engine parts from a stock set-up just to achieve a tiny gain in engine HP and nothing else, don't do it. Stock cars are considered a prize because the buyer knows that the reliability (typically) of stock car is better than that of one that has been modified. It also tells a buyer that the car probably has not been abused buy an owner. My 2 cents.
I'd leave it alone. The further I go down the modded trail, the more I regret it. Trying to get things to fit properly and perform as desired gets to be an exersize in frustration sometimes.
Maybe do a downpipe and a drop in K&N.
No emissions in NY is a pita to get smogged yearly. Eventually you will loose the smog hookup especially as the emissions standards get tighter every year.

I'll never forget the feeling of the sequential twins. I upgraded because my engine blew up and it was easier to go single. Do all the reliability mods and leave it there, and even get a PFC if you want to get a little more involved. I would suggest you keep it stock for as long as you can.

Sounds like you just enjoy driving the car and am not looking for a car with tons of hp. Then definitely leave it and just enjoy it.
Also, if you do start with modding the car, it's a like a damn disease, and before you know it you will have spent way to much money!

The car stock is a great car, but knowing that there was so much more potential to be had from simple upgrades, I couldn't resist. If you modify it correctly, you aren't going to lose reliability, you can actually help it. I have basic mods, and have never encountered any serious problems.
I did the bolt-on and reliability modifications in my signature, plus preventive stuff like all new coolant hoses, etc. If I had to do it over, I'd probably do the same things again. No regrets so far.

thanks guys, what bothers me the most is all that clutter and hoses all over the place so i wanted to get rid of it all includidng air pump and the rats nest to simplify the engine but if you guys tell me that it will just make it less reliable then screw it i will leave it alone.i would like to upgrade a few things though like the intercooler to a ASP Medium Intercooler, radiator to a koyo and things like that or is that also going to be unreliable??
IMHO, a stock power car with reliability mods is more reliable than a 100% stock car. Downpipe, radiator, SMIC, all improve things as long as your'e still at 10psi.
Deleting or leaving emissions equipment should not affect reliability, unless those emissions systems were already giving you trouble.
Reliability goes back down when you increase power output.

If you plan on keeping the car as a collector's item, you should leave everything the way it is. If it's your daily driver and you really want to remove some things, or upgrade something else, you might as well go the whole nine yards with it as it will no longer be stock, period.

well its not 100% stock i would say its 90% stock, the guy before me took a few things out like the air box and put some cheap autozone air filters with flexible pipes and disconected a few things,it also has a racing beat exhaust system 3" down pipe and guages, turbo timer a boost controler that is not connected and little stuff like that
LOL, thats not stock. That's the beginning of a long list of mods. I would go further but that depends on your desire to keep it stock (or at least the way it is) and your budget. Just don't take it over 10 pounds without changing the ECU. My 2 cents.
