Heavy steering?

The steering feels heavy and it doesnt return to the center whenever i turn. What could be the cause? I have relocated my battery to the rear trunk.

Generally (back in the day) when cars and trucks had gearboxes, the play was taken out of the steering wheel by an adjuster. If adjusted too tight, the wheel would not return to center, and would be difficult to move. However, since we use rack and pinions, there is no adjustment. I'd be more apt to check the fluid level as sevensix advised, if well, i would take it to a shop and have them check your power steering pump pressure. Sounds to me like your pump has failed. if the pump tests good, you would be looking at a rare instance of rack failure
