Actually, the only thing you'll see is an ecu code for the relative emmissions codes. However, I do believe since you're in Chicago, you do not have a California ecu and therefore, I don't think your egr code will pop up. Do a SOY'ch!

Can I ask what you hope to gain by removing emissions' controls/egr valve?

well, i actually installed a single turbo and a block-off plate kit. i don't want to boost much..maybe only 8 psi. my current problem is that car wont revv past 3-4000 rpm while driving and maybe only 4-5 while sitting. if you try to open the throttle too soon it will pop and backfire through the intake. i know it needs an aftermarket ecu but i really only need it to run decent for now. again, thanks for any help

You're not running decent my friend...we would call what you are doing stupid. No offense or anything but if you can afford the single turbo, please go out and get a PowerFC or the like. You won't be running stupid for long the way you're going, it won't be running at all. Better get the PowerFC now or it'll be sitting there for you to look at. No offense or anything

Frankly, as the others have said, what you are doing right now is very dumb.

For the money you spent on a single turbo kit, you could have a stock-twin car running 13-14 psi and have a faster and better running/more reliable car.

But hey, it's your engine. Just don't go whining to everyone that rotaries suck when you blow your motor....

Actually, no one called you stupid, they said what you were doing was, and there's a difference. Perhaps you should listen to what other people are saying...

As far as the answer to your question, Series7 already answered it. The stock ecu will really only go into "limp home" mode if the MAP sensor is disconnected/malfunctions or some other crucial engine component fails, like the OMP.

mariorx7- reason people are being rough on you is they have seen this exact situation many times before- (sometimes personally!)- and they are trying to spare you some real grief and $$$$$. With the high boost capability of your single turbo and no real effective way to control it with your stock ecu, you will blow the engine. Even a used, aftermarket computer will be better than the setup you have now. My $0.2
