Stock CD player won't play after battery disconnect

Ok, i've done some searching on this and found this thread:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=188945

I tried punching in that code about 100 times, but it doesn't work as stated in that thread. I know my CD player must work, because it worked fine in November when i put the car in the garage and disconnected the battery.

Can anyone else shed some light on this please?

Thanks

Link doesn't work for some reason. You're punching in the code for your particular unit, correct?

Kento, here's the link (just copy the hyperlink, instead of clicking on it): https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/bose-radio-code-help-188945/

And it's not the security code for HIS unit; it's supposedly a master reset code.

Are there individual reset codes?

Question: Does your radio work? If so, then the anti-theft feature is not your problem.

Yeah, the radio works. Does this mean my CD player just **** itself over the winter?

Yeah, if the security feature kicks in the stereo will do NOTHING if I recall correctly. Most likely the CD player died.

Time for a new head unit .

One last thing to check.......is there any kind of internal fuse in the CD player? I forget. It's been a while since I've looked. If there is, it might have blown.

Nope, nothing of the sort. Mine did the same thing as what Section 8 is describing. I didn't use it for a while, and it just quit. It is old, you know. Also, I did a write-up on replacing the stock unit with an updated one from a newer Mazda. Here is the link, if you are interested.

Not reset, but anti-theft codes. When the car was originally sold, the code was included in the owner's manual and other paperwork given to the original owner. The original owner was thus *supposed* to include this to the next buyer of the car etc. Otherwise, you need to use the master reset code that the stealership keeps.

That, and you don't wanna know how much they cost new!! On that note, however, I have a local guy next to my place who's one of the few shops that service factory headunits. I had him service a headunit or two, and I think it's between $75 and $150 to diagnose, repair, replace, and return to factory specs. So that's always available if anyone's interested in going that out...

Thanks for the info Ramy. I'll remember this (or try to) when the car become a 'track only' car and i pull the head unit out and try to sell it to someone that may be willing to have it repaired.
