Press "SCAN"
Press "AM/FM"
Press "AUTO M"
Press "Tune UP"
The display should read "------"
Using the memory presets buttons, enter the code "1 4 1 4"
Press "Scan" and "Auto M" simultaneously and hold until the clock appears.
The radio should now be cleared. There is a time limit on entering each command, so it may take one or two tries.

Panasonic radio? Was that the factory radio in the UK? Here in the states, it was either Bose in the touring or an OEM radio made by (I think?) Clarion in the base & R1 models. THis code works fine with my R1 stereo.. I'd guess your panasonic is aftermarket, and has a seperate code.

panasonic is the original in europe. the buttons are the same, like the description....but after i put the code 1414 and pressing the two buttons, the "err" still comes...
i don´t know what i should do.....

Sorry.. I guess I can't help then. Keep looking on the net.. I know I've seen Miata & other codes posted somewhere else a year or two earlier. You might stumble on to it.
The only other thing I could see working is going to the dealer. And that can only be ugly. Sounds like a good opportunity to put a better radio in.

Does anyone else have any insight into how to make this work? I just put my car back together after sitting over the winter and the CD player doesn't work, it just spits the CDs right back out.
I tried the above sequence for about 15 minutes last night and couldn't get it to do anything.
