Still having spark issues after doing fixes

Guys I really need help badly. I'll be driving the car and it'll lose spark to all coils.
I've replaced the:

1. Both CAS
2. Got a used ignitor and am still having the same problems

I've searched and haven't come up with much, ignitor and coils seem to be the only issues addressed. Maybe Im not looking correctly or something, I dunno. The way I see it is that the ignitor give power to the coils..which I've replaced and still a no go. Before that is the ECU correct? Could a bad ECU be the problem, anyone heard of this?

I dont wanna keep buying parts for nothing. This 7 (my DD) has been down almost 5 weeks now and Im frustrated. I've had the car about 2 1/2 months now..any help or guidance would mean a lot to me.

Try borrowing an ECU of someone and trying it out,,, or u could just buy one of the for sale section , should be cheap as most people are switching to power FCs. ( u have changed the ignitor and the coils like u said the only thing remaining is the ECU which is responisible for controlling ignition firing)

(theres one other little thing,,, what about the crank angle sensors on the front cover, these are responsible for calculating the correct time at which to fire the spark plugs,,, maybe a dirty plug/poor connection or a faulty sensor there???? just some ideas,,,, have a look at them)

Thanks tiger18. I have replaced the crank angle sensors (both) and the ignitor. I haven't replaced any coils due to the fact that ALL the coils lose power at the same time. So..when it shuts off and I pull the UIM and test the coils for power they ALL have none. Then I gotta wait awhile b4 it'll start. On rare occasion's it'll start within 5 minutes of shutting down.

Anything else guys?

your symptoms point toward an overheating shorting coil. of course such a coil would show 12 V w the key on but produce no spark until it cooled. since the lead coil is essentially one coil w 2 outputs (firing at the same time) and since it produces almost all the power i would replace it. there are tons around since most upgrade the stock fd coils. i understand that if the lead coil malfunctions there are 2 trailing coils and the motor might run, though poorly, on them. given your situation i would give the lead coil swap a try.

since you have swapped ignitors and CAS that would be next most probable. the ECU being low on the probable list. clearly something is overheating.

after the coil swap i would be looking at the fuel pump which could be overheating and signing off.

have you checked for spark during the time when the motor won't run?

thinking further.... there is a common wire between all 3 coils. it is the neg post. i would look at it very carefully/

wait so you have verified that when it stalls and will not restart you have no Power going to the coils??

look at your main relay it is what supplies power to the coils. also look for wiring issues. i have never seen all 3 coils stop firing due to heat at the exact same time.

Yes, I have verified that there is no spark at all. I've check the stupid little things, but will do it again. I feel strongly that this problem is heat related, which my next step is replacing my coils with a set of used ones.

If the coils dont do the trick, Im gonna go through my wiring and try to find something wrong there, then the ECU. This is frustrating, but nice to get advice from Howard though.

Did you verify that there isn't a problem with the ignition harness?
