need someone familiar with the FD tranny..

to take a look at this and tell me if this is OEM or aftermarket.
in the process of installing a clutch, everything has been aftermarket due to the gikken clutch that was in it. I'm installing ACT FW clutch and keep running into problems...it does'nt look like the clutch rod will make contact with the fork assembly the way it is set up now. help...

was it a twin plate gikken? I believe they use a conversion kit to go to a push type clutch instead of the stock pull type.

yeah, it was a twin plate. I've already got all the parts to convert back, but now it looks like I have to get this part also.

I think that part is called the clutch release cylinder support plate...anyone know where I could find that? I don't think parts place sell that seperately from tranny.

You might be surprised, call some place like mazda recyling and ask, since most people swapping out a busted trans would have a usable plate on their existing one its really not necessary to be sold with the transmission in most cases. Heck you might even be able to buy it at the dealership, or else hunt down someone on here that's gone to a push type bearing and get theirs.

I'm not seeing the problem. If you're going back to a stock pull clutch, is there any reason you can't unbolt that plate and bolt in the stock slave cylinder?

In any case, if you need a clean bellhousing I have one.

It seems that the stock support plate was removed and a custom plate was bolted on which sets the clutch release cylinder about an inch lower. If you would happen to have this stock plate, I could take that off your hands...send me a pm.

Ahh, now I get it.

Anyway, I don't have that part, I think it usually stays with the slave cyl.

According to the parts diagram, you can buy it separately as pn N315-16-921 for $34.
