Stiff Shifting

I was wondering if anyone has experienced real rough gear shifting in their trans. (stock or bebuilt)? I just had mine rebuilt and it was fine for a few months then it became real hard to get into gear! Also I put on a B&M Short Shifter and was wondering if anyone else had problems with short shifters with those transmissions? Would it be a possibility to put ATF in it? Is that good or bad for this particular trans? Maybe an additive to smooth things up? I was wondering if when they rebuilt it they didn't put in the blockers with the synchros? Anyway, if anyone can tell me anything it would be great! From one RX-7 owner to another!

Thanks, -Chris Hunter-

What kind of gear lube are you using? You might see some improvement using Royal Purple, Redline MT-90, or Amsoil. Since your in FL I guess we can't blame the cold.

Fluid

I am using Royal Purple 75W-90 that is less than 10,000 miles old, and this morning it was 32 degrees, so yes it is cold in FL!

Thanks though!

Stiff when cold is completely normal.

Do not put ATF in there.

But it's stiff to the point that an once of more pressure shifter would cause grinding! I have to ease it into each gear! Is it normal for it to be that stiff?

Digging up a month old thread...I also have somewhat still shifting...I have Amsoil 75w90 in the tranny and still feels stiff...Also have the B&M shifter...A frined in Oklahoma City, his shifty like it's sliding on butter...Feels almost too loose but feels good...Would be nice to smooth things out a bit.

Could bad shifter bushings be a cause? They're only $20 and a lot of people replace them...

I think your problem is the B&M shifter. When i put mine on, I got the similiar problem. When cold it's hard to get in 2nd or 3rd. When it gets hot then it's only hard to get in 2nd.

Also after like year, I get some kind of strange noise coming from shifter. I have to hold it to stop
