Stereo question

I currently have the bose system powered by an aftermarket head unit. what will I need to go through to replcae the front speakers? I also want to take the tube out and stick speakers in the spot where the little side storage pockets are. Thats where they would come stock if I didn't have the bose right?

What size speakers will I need? is there any hardware or brackets I'll nees to get from a non bose FD?

from what i was told, you will have to replace all the wiring because the bose speakers work on differnt ohms than most. therefore they use diffrent wires.

Actually the wires have nothing to do with the load. It's the speakers and the amps that are working at 2ohms. If you remove the amps and the speakers then the wiring will be fine. If you want to install speakers in the rear panels then you'll need the brackets from the non-bose equipped cars. I think it fits a 5x7 back there and a 6 1/2 in the front doors.

That's close but not totally true. Each Bose speaker is individually ampified, therefore if you replace the speakers...you won't get any sound without running the sound from the aftermarket head unit. So bascially..you have to run new wires from the head unit to the speakers.

Unless you run amps in each door you will need to run new speaker wires to the doors also there are no wires to the rear speaker locations (B pillar) so thoes would have to be wired also to use.

Thats BS, The HEAD unit for the BOSE system is made by CLARION and has 4 PREAMP outs (ONLY) any HEADUNIT that has 4 Preamp outs should work. I think CRUCHFIELD sells an adapter harness for doing the install.

You have to have a head unit that puts out some power in order to run the bose speakers even tho the bose speakers are individually amped. It has something to do with the resistance rating of the speaker/amp (which I could have sworn was really high as opposed to really low - which makes a bit of sense when you think about the reduction of noise and what Bose may have been thinking when they made the system). If you get a passive head unit, you need to get a little amp (like a 10 watter) and you'll be fine.

All you need to run an aftermarket head unti with a bose system is a specail adapter for it. Almost any audio shop should know exaclty what you need just tell them you want to run and aftermaket head unit with a factory bose system. Actually you shouldn't even have to goto an audio shop Bust buy and circuit city both carry it. I think the technical name is a peripheral adapter.

i have one of the schoshe adapters that crutchfield sells for the install. retail is something like 50-60 bucks. let me know if any of y'all need/want it.

also, the front speakers are 5-1/4 but you can fit a shallow 6.5" speaker in there. you will need to get new front speaker mounts from a base or R1 model though. the whole bose module will need to come out unless you want to put in some type of aftermarket 4" speaker and disable the amp while still using the housing.

You need an OEM adapter for the Bose system. I have an extra one for sale. I also have a the whole bose set up for sale as well.
