Starter fluild.where?

Ok guys, I'm going to attempt to see what's happening with sacker90's car. There's another thread on it (long), problem is it cranks fine, no start. Not even a stutter. I'm going to confirm spark, then I'd like to try spraying some starter fluid in the thing to see if I can at least get a cough.
Where would you suggest I spray the fluid, which hose exactly?

Thanks for the help, wish me luck.

You can use the extra tap/boost gauge tap off the UIM.

Think again. That's got a LONG way to go before it gets into the engine.

Before you spray, has sacker90 checked compression. If the compression is low on a new engine you would be better off trying a very small amount of tranny fluid. As majic says use the spare nipple on the uim and put a piece of vacuum hose on it. Put the loose end in a small container of tranny juice. Crank until it starts and then pull the hose out of the fluid. Let it run for a long while. The low compression may just be a seal not quite set in place.

Good luck.

Another vote for intake elbow. But, I'd start chasing down why it's flagging a TON of codes first (if it's the car I'm thinking of). The car flat isn't gonna run with no CAS, etc.

I agree with Mahjik on this. The two taps on the UIM are as close as your are going to get to the intake ports on the rotors. It is also the ideal place if you ever have to squirt in some ATF to unflood and engine. Good luck...

Here's the wierd thing. He (Sacker90) took off the CAS last night to OHM them out (check out ok). WHen he reinstalled them, all codes are gone!

Still won't start, thought. I'm going to start tonight with the basics...is there spark, etc. 'Preciate any sugestions, though. I'll be posting tonight until:

1. It starts
2. I give up and have to wait for the 'David Payne' bailout..he said he could come by Sunday.

Ok, I pulled both leading plugs..bone dry. I cranked the car, compression sounds fine, but definitely no fuel is going in there. They said the fuel pump runs, but I haven't verified that as of yet. All fuses are good.
Assuming fuel pump is ok, CAS ohmed out ok, ECU works in another car..any ideas?

UPDATE, we have no fuel, AND zero spark. Pulled leading plugs, put a good plug on the wire..zilch. Used a screwdriver in the plug wire next to ground..zilch.

I'm stumped. Any ideas?

If all your fuses are good, check your EGI relay. This controls the fuel injection system and is - I think - required for the ignition system to operate as well. A quick look at the troubleshooting charts in the FSM will tell you. I had the same problem - no fuel or spark - and the problem turned out to be a corroded terminal on the EGI relay. Yours could be blown, corroded, or just slightly unseated. Good luck.

If we don't get it running soon, I guess we'll have to tow it to a MAZDA DEALER!
