development
same thing happen to me...I built an engine, installed it. Fired it up, found the rear main was leaking.
However, I dropped the tranny, pulled the gear, changed the o-ring and seal, had a new bearing pressed in and then reinstalled everything.
I definitely don't recommend replacing a stationary gear with the motor in the car...still running however 2years/12k mi later.

Nice. I have a leaky rear main seal too. I think I'll wait till the motor pops before I fix it though. It seems like too big of a project just to stop oil spots on my driveway.

You will have to change the seal and the clutch plate too if it's a manual trans. if you let it go too long.
Be sure and retorque the case bolts when you have the flywheel off. Doing this may prevent future coolant leaks.

i vote put more money into the motor... body kit it when you have all your motor work done. i cant count the times on my older cars where they are all bling with nice paint, wheels, and a body kit and i just get chips, nicks, and greasy hand prints on stuff by accident! mainly it was friends i was having help me and teaching them stuff but its smarter to do that stuff after you have all your motor stuff done. lookin good keep us updated with pictures everyone loves these threads...

good point, but why waste time, im waiting on a rear seal, in the meantime i fit the body kit and see what do i need to complete the project, as soon as the rear seal is here all that stuff comes out, start thee engine, clean the garage and then body kit time, but good point thanks
