start car in 1st, wait for rpm to drop, put in neutral, car dies
As the title says, my usual routine is to start the car in 1st to avoid the high-rpm warm up. Then when the rpms drop below 1000 I put it in neutral and let it sit until its warmed up. The last two times I've done this, the engine has quit when I put it in neutral. (I should probably note that I don't drive the car very often. Most recently it went 3 weeks without being driven )
I admit I haven't searched much for an answer, but I've been reading this forum for a while now and have never come across this problem.
Is this something that has been discussed before? Is there an easy solution (yeah, right!)?

Thanks for the replies
Yeah, in first it idles fine. I didn't know that blipping the throttle would stop the AWS. I'd still like to know why it dies when I put it in neutral though. Might be a symptom of some other problem.
The clutch pedal is depressed throughout the entire sequence, so I'm not sure that's the problem. I will check it though, thanks.
Any other thoughts?

There's also a neutral and 1-2 gear switch in the tranny that work in conjunction with the clutch switch to alter idle. Check all of them. Other than that check for vacuum leaks and maybe even TPS adjustment.
