Stage 1 of many for maintenance, couple of opinions would be nice
Are you sure you are not talking about the heater hose that come out of the engine block next to the rear spark plug and under neath the oil filter. This hose usually gets oil saturated and leakes/burst. When i change my oil i usually put a rag on top of of it to soak up the oil so it does not get onto the hose. I would change this hose when you change your coolant, do not remove the plastic thing on the engine, but a lot of people do. The previous owner removed the plactic piece and i actually bought a new one and installed it at the same time as the hose. I like the plastic piece because it keeps the out side of the pipe from the engine from rusting. The only hoses on the engine that holes engine oil is the oil cooler lines.
Ya I need to look at it closer, but there is oil all over the underside of the car, the engine doesn't seem to be losing too much oil though. I'm just checking it everyday before I drive it till I get it fixed.
I know it wasn't part of the plan, but figured what the hell. I ordered an ebay SMIC intercooler it was cheap enough and I fear the size of the stock intercooler. This is all brought on by the want to create a stock looking, better flowing intake system for the intercooler and intake system. I figured I have to pull out the intercooler anyway, and I need to replace the couplers so what the hell eh?
It's a Bar and plate type, I don't know volume specs because I've been to lazy to figure it out plus I don't know the stock specs so I didn't do the math.
460mm X 310mm X 85mm I'm sure plenty of you on here have one. (PS I'm not shooting for 400HP so the one should do fine for a long while)
P.S. Also updated my Stage one list:
Stage 1 (In progress)
-Sparkplugs/wires (plugs done, HUGE changes)
-fuel filter (failed attempt #1, will try again, can't seem to get the last bolt out.)
-engine oil (not completed)
-tranny/diff oil (not completed)
- water/coolant change.(not completed)
- seafoam treatment (vacum) (Decided to hold off on this in fear that I will shake something loose that will set off a chain reaction of problems)
- checking for oil and vacum leaks
I have on order or ready to be put in
- Boost gauge
- Intercooler
- Water Temp
- Oil pressure
- DP
- Upper intake Manifold gaskets
The intercooler and DP will wait to go in until all of it arrives and I get the gauges here and installed.

ok, I'm an idiot the intercooler is MUCH wider than I thought, I never thought to think whether or not it would work with the stock intake. well it won't........ SO now i need to think of a box up that will still look semi stock
You may still be able to use the intercooler, and the stock airbox. Will they work if you get a smaller battery (or move the battery to the bin behind the passenger seat) ?

Any synthetic oil will be fine. Since you live in a mild climate, I recommend 10/30. I get Mobil One at Costco.
Downpipe is a good Mod. Helps everything!!
Don't pull the injectors. Again, you have a low mileage car. Use an injector cleaner instead. I recommend BG44k, once a year. Not more than once a year!!!
NGK spark plugs are very good. Use stock plugs.
Change the fuel filter.
Do the fan mod.

Adam...do you know if local auto part stores carry BG44K? I gather you recomend this over other typical products (ie: techron, STP cleaner, etc.)
ya I was actually looking at it the otherday and was thinking about the battery thing. as soon as I actually get the intercooler in I will look at everything and see if it will fit the way I want.
*BUT* in the case that I do decide to go with an aftermarket intake system who makes a decent on that still has the hook ups? Actually what I would want was a system that would have the hook ups and the filter(s) but I could build a box around.
