SS exhaust manifold glowing red normal??
SS exhaust manifold glowing red normal??
This qustion is for the guys that have or had SS exhaust manifolds.
I recently went single and the kit has SS exhaust manifold. For the rest of the exhaust system I have a resonated midpipe and the Greddy PE. It was just the last couple of days that I noticed the exhuast glowing after moderate driving.
If it is a problem, how does one diagnose it? The boost is fine, the idle vacuum is normal. The only thing that seems to be out of the ordinary is a sound that vaguely resembles a siren that appeared recently. If it makes any difference the turbo exhaust housing is not glowing. The tuning is normal with 11.2-11.4 afr at full boost. I did tune the idle a bit on the lean side (14s), but I don't think that has anything to do with it. Any help and suggestion is greatly appreciated.

...a lean mixture actually causes ignition to be hotter
..but I don't know if this is your problem
You will get more replys in the single turbo section.
I know this is rather common after spirited driving and usually seen at night. It has alot to do with EGT. This is a combination of Air to Fuel ratios and timing.
