SR Tuned Power FCs

I have a question about SR tuned Power FCs. I just picked one up with the notion that they tune their PFCs for free, similar to the M2 unlimited and such. After talking to a few people at SR they said that they'll retune the PFC pending the changes you're making were purchased from them (buy injectors from them, they'll tune the PFC for you.) Granted I'm a second owner of the PFC, but isn't that the point of buying a SR Tuned PFC, rather than one from RX7 Store?

Go to the vendors section regarding SR tuned PFC's. There is some information you may find interesting there.

all tune by mail is a pain...you gotta wideband and datalog...or dyno....tis the only way...just ask fookntite he just dynoed his car after getting bad maps from xs...xs dynoed it and now he seems to be happy with the tuning.

ya cant guess at the stuff..ya gotta dyno...or do it on the street with the datalogit.

FooknTite,

Where are you guys taking your FD locally? I've got a local shop that resells M2 products, but I don't trust them much. I'm sure M2s backed up for the next years or so , why does that leave me? Is XS in the area? I'm only 100 or so miles from Foster City, so I'm sure it can't be too far. Don't feel like driving down to LA or anything..

How can you sit there and expect somebody to tune a power fc for you when you didn't even buy it from them??
When I used to run a power fc, I puchased it from SR Motorsports and bought other items like injectors, intercooler and intake from other venders. He still tunes it for free, but thats because I bought it from him. This is his livelyhood! You can't expect the man to hand you free products when you didn't purchase it from him.

I understand your point, but I see it no different than the original owner sending it back for new maps. I can argue the issue both ways, honestly. But being that I'm on this side of the issue, I'm a little bias. That's been one of the key reasons to the SR Tuned ECUs and why they do charge $1349 for them - their support. I don't mind paying an hour or so of shop time ($100), but when they talk about two to three hours it seems a bit rediculous. Anyways, dead issue.

I got my PFC tuned at XS which was a 5-6hour drive for me. Believe me, you're lucky enough if you can get there in only that time. To me it's totally worth it, because their dyno tuning is very good and it's a trip you only have to make once for the life of your car or for the duration of your ownership. If you don't want to drive that far, Ray from SR motorsports says that he dyno tunes now as well, he's in brentwood which is closer to you than LA probably.

Brentwood might not be too bad of a drive, considering I shouldn't have to dyno tune it for quite a while. Seems like I'd want to have it mail tuned first, BEFORE I take it on a 5-6 trip though.. Although at least if it did blow up on the way, I could leave it there for a rebuild .

Jspec, with your mods you probably won't need any dyno tuning. In fact, maybe the base maps are good enough. I ran a similar setup as you did before going single turbo with the base power fc maps and the car ran fine.

I figured the same, I have fairly basic mods with the ECU currently being tuned for a intake, downpipe, and catback. I just need to send it back to adjust it for the medium IC being added..
